Mixed feelings. The significance of the forehead poke is undeniable. With all of the truths that Sasuke had just revealed, is the reader supposed to believe this was another one?

It would have been better to have an inkling of it at least once in the preceding 698 chapters, but I guess this scene foreshadowed the next chapter. That was released the same day. XD

I'm going to give a little criticism here and go against the grain somewhat, so if you absolutely adored it... don't bother reading the rest of my post.

I was not fond of it.

1- It lacks symbolism. Itachi did that to Sasuke because a) That's his little brother. It showed that he cared for him and he was the elder sibling and b) It's symbolism. Itachi was "pushing" Sasuke away from the truth. He wanted him to remain pure and innocent.

What relevance does it have when Sasuke uses it? Sasuke might as well do that to everyone, since he was pushing everyone away. That's how irrelevant it is when he uses it.

What relevance does it have to Sakura? Until now, she has no idea about the Uchiha clan or of Sasuke's relationship with his elder brother. She probably related it back to her bench idea in early part one with Sasuke admiring her forehead.

2- I hold family in very high regard. I understand that to Sasuke, he thinks what he's doing is good in that he's remembering his brother. However, it's somewhat demeaning in a way. I would never use a gesture on a lover that my deceased loved one used for me. Never. That's something important, kept for just us. Not romance. Lol (And let it be known that I am no romantic, so it was all the more vile imo).

I don't think anyone should use that gesture bar Itachi. Then again, I guess it's okay since it doesn't diminish his character, only the one who is mimicking him.

3- It's a fanservice. First and foremost to SS. Second to Itachi fans.

I can understand why SS would like it and don't blame them. But to Itachi or just Naruto series fans in general... they mainly did not like it or just didn't care for it.

I know that Kishimoto mentions Itachi to please his fans (since he has the biggest fandom in Japan now, after Naruto's/Sasuke's/Kakashi's), but this was not needed. We didn't need a throw back to him via this gesture. It's not special when it's used this way, at least not as significant as when it was used by Itachi for his younger sibling. I'd rather Sasuke have done something different.

I'm sorry for rambling on like this, but it really just made me feel sick and sad when I saw that. But only for a few moments since I guess I don't really care anymore.

The only reason i would have mixed feelings is because he had some time to think on his journey, and you could say he didn't like her when he poked her forehead yet. Still, it's largely unbelievable, obviously fanservice and that poke was Itachi's trademark.

Exactly that. Sasuke tried to kill Sakura on multiple occasions. He verbally assaulted her countless times and he literally said he has no reason to like her. Now, he's a goodie-goodie boy who likes and appreciates her character.
