Naruto is divided into 2 side politically, and to make it easier i'll call it Hashiramanism vs Madaranism. The ideas of these 2 have conflicted against each other and over the course have caused battles between brothers , friends, teacher and students, and families. One can basically say the ideas of these 2 represent Democracy and understanding (little communism) vs Dictatorship (Not communism).
So I will elaborate on these 2 Ideas through the following sections. And then you will have to decide which side you support. Are you a follower of Hashiramanism OR Madaranism?
If you haven't already predicted it, Hashiramanism is basically the ideas Hashirama believed in. A peaceful world full of understanding. Only use force when NECESSARY.
The main ideas of his belief and why he formed Konoha:
- A place where every clan (race in Naruto) gets along
- A place where people understand each other, and don't hold grudges
- Peace that can be made through simple understanding between countries.
- Forcing isn't the best way, instead spread Love, understand, learn, enjoy life without hurting others, and FORGIVENESS
These beliefs drive Hashirama throughout his life. Basically led to the creation of the Will of Fire (his philosophy). He displays this against his father:
Then he showed Madara forgiveness and understanding. He believed that understanding was the best way for peace. And he was willing to give up his life for it.
So overall, this is Hashiramanism and the following characters have expressed it the best:
- SO6P
- Jiraiya
- Naruto
- Gaara
- Kakashi
Can be best expressed as, dictatorship type. Madara believed that 1 person controlling the world into a genjutsu or basically a controlled society is the best for peace. And individuals just cause hatred and so on.
He has been through many hardships throughout his life, seeing the death of his younger brothers, comrades and so on. You can assume why he feels that way. Madara's focus is that POWER will make peace in the end, because humans simply can't understand each other.
His main belief:
- Power is the only way to get peace, if one controls the world he can achieve true peace.
- Believed Hashirama's ideals were naive.
The people who expressed Madaranism the best are :
- Danzo
- Hanzo
- Obito
- Nagato before he changed
So this is Madaranism summarized.
