ಠ_ಠ please tell my i'm not the only one that was saying "WHAT DID THEY DO TO IT!?!?!?!?!" watching the pain fight in the more recent naruto anime episodes. anyone know why they started doing stuff like this?

not really. first, i think it's the same scene and second, his face never did that in the manga. the point would be just as valid if i used a different scene where they did that. it isn't the scene, it's the fact that they took his skull and replaced it with a gel-like substence.

its not just that! it gives it its own uniqueness. all animes have something that is different and a couple of them show a difference in the artwork during certain fight scenes. you can tell that this is exactly what they are doing cause they showed better fight scenes in naruto but every meaningful fight naruto has they do that somewhere in the fight starting from sasukevsnaruto

Well, if you're talking about anime adding stuff like that, the Naruto vs Pain fight is not the first one. Watch the whole Naruto vs Sasuke fight from part 1. And what i'm talking about is, check the manga panel that you uploaded above. Now check the exact same anime scene where Pain says the exact same line from the manga. and compare the two. his face is not like in the anime picutre you uploaded above. Does Pain say 'My pain is greater than yours....' with the face like that in anime? No.
