Looking at the skill set of each individual ninja on each team. Do you think the genins skills were allocated in the best possible combinations?
Specialties by teams in Part 1 when the teams were first assigned.
Team 7
Naruto: Ninjutsu - applications combat
Sasuke: Ninjutsu - applications combat
Sakura: Genjutsu - dispelling and detecting
Kakashi: Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, summonings - applications various
Team 8
Hinata: Byagukan - applications detection, espionage, combat
Kiba: Ninjutsu - applications hunter/tracker, combat
Shino: Ninjutsu - applications espionage
Kurenai: Genjutsu, Ninjutsu - applications various
Team 10
Shikamaru: Ninjutsu -applications defense
Ino: Ninjutsu - application espionage
Choji: Ninjutsu- application combat
Asuma: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu -applications various
Team Guy
Lee: Taijutsu - applications combat
Neji: Taijutsu, Byakugan - applications detection, espionage, combat
Tenten: Weapon scrolls applications combat
Guy: Taijutsu, Genjutsu, summonings - applications various
This is a rough breakdown of the K12 and their Jonin senseis.
You look at team Guy and you have 3 people who specialize in taijutsu.
Team Kurenai has 3 ninja who specialize in espionage, tracking and intel gathering but only 1 (Kiba) as good offensive capabilities.
Team Asuma has two ninja who's abilites are purely defensive (although they make a good combination together) and Choji is the literal tank of that squad.
Team Kakashi has Sasuke on the team. With the Uchiha clan's rep for fire style and sharingan jutsu; we know Sasuke is going to be a combat ninja. A perfect match for Kakashi's own abilities to instruct. Naruto was a failure at the academy but his kage bushin make him versatile. Sakura is book smart sure, but in the field (Land of Waves) she was kind of in the back not doing anything.
