Were Kisame and Itachi "Friends", even at it's lowest definition?

Just as the title says. I would say barely, as Itachi might have had respect for Kisame as a shinobi.

Meh, they respected each other, but I wouldn't consider them to be friends. After Itachi died and Sasuke joined the Akatsuki, all Kisame did was laugh and talk about how ironic it was or something. IDK though, meybe they were friends on some levels.

those two are the most loyal & professional nin so they clearly naturally got along being probably the second longest partnership in the akatsuki they bonded
