He's an inexperienced Jyuubi, against Tobi was has 7 Tailed beasts, with Naruto having Gai, Kakashi and Bee on his side.
I don't want Naruto to be the strongest character yet, to be honest, I want him to always have a rival whos powers equal his own (sasuke or another character), for now I want him to be right up their with the heavy weights, but not quite the world champion yet.

Naruto has incredible reputation, granted it's not maxed out yet; however, he's known beyond all borders, a hero of Konoha, a sage, etc. I don't get this. He's got the Sand Village heavily indebted to him for his role in the "Rescue Gaara" arc. He's the hero of Konoha, and after saving Konoha from Nagato didn't everyone who was able gather to celebrate him, tossing him in the air, etc.? Later when he was at Ichiraku's Ramen he was asked by two Chuunin or Jounin adults for autographs before being reversed summoned by the toads regarding the elder sage's prophecy about him. When the Raikage sent Cloud ninja to Konoha they knew that Naruto was the one who defeated Nagato (the supposed leader of Akatsuki) and saved Konoha, so his rep was already spread outside the village to the other villages. Further, he was granted an audience with the Raikage (in part due to Kakashi's rep, granted) before the Kage Summit to plea for the repeal of the assassination note of Sasuke in the Bingo book (albeit it was denied). These are not things granted to ordinary ninja or even high level jounin, but ones who accomplish extraordinary things and make a name for themselves.
Further, plenty in the alliance now know that Naruto's FRS is the strongest wind release jutsu in the alliance, not Temari's jutsu. Shikaku stated to Shikamaru that Naruto having mastered Senjutsu puts him on a different level than him and the others when Shikamaru felt Naruto was being reckless fighting Pain alone, and that letting Naruto fight alone was the best teamwork/strategy. A, the Raikage, has acknowledged his linear speed is the fastest alive, which is only faster now in BM. I could go on and on. Naruto doesn't need to put on a show or advertise in front of everyone to demonstrate how far superior he is to them, while they may not know the details, I think it's somewhat tacitly understood on a level, and has been seen explicitly on each of the battlefields with his clones despite that each are only a fraction of his power in KM and sage mode, and not even had his latest power ups. Despite this, they still, as reinforcements, often turned the tide of the battle wherever they appeared, and singularly were essential to resolving the White Zetsu problem, as it was a problem designed to be solved specifically for Naruto in KM by Tobi (ideally as a trap).
Further, the very fact that the 5 Kages would entrust Naruto and Bee to fight Tobi alone (initially) shows an enormous amount of respect and trust in his/their abilities as this is the very person that's trying to capture him/them, and very nearly did capture Naruto if not for Kakashi's and Gai's intervention when they arrived. This is high praise. This is the same person who the 4 Kages (Danzou had fled) were sufficiently afraid of (granted, while using the power of the name of Uchiha Madara) to form the first ever 5 nation alliance, which was nonetheless required to go to war against. He has the Sharingan, space-time ninjutsu, Hashirama Senju's DNA, the Rinnegan, 7 tailed beasts, Gedo Mazo, etc. He is not a normal shinobi as admitted by Minato during their brief confrontation 16 years ago (and only became stronger), who went to extreme lengths to prepare Naruto for this scenario. This is a tremendous responsibility, facing off against Tobi, and you don't hand it out to just anyone or any group.
How many people actually know what Hashirama and EMS Madara were fully capable of? Probably almost no one. It's just now, via ET Madara that we're witnessing some of the actual powers/jutsu in use. I have a feeling that they only demonstrated their peak prowess at the Valley of the End where the only third parties were Kurama and Uzumaki Mito (was she there the whole time? idk) as well as other 1 on 1 battles. Perhaps Tobirama and Izuna saw some of this in training, but I doubt it was the same no matter how hard they trained. Further, I don't think that lesser and inexperienced shinobi truly appreciate the powers of the great shinobi and can weight them appropriately, simply because they're so far beyond their league that it's almost like fiction come to life to them. For example, when ET Madara used the Rinnegan Kinjutsu to call down the meteorites some shinobi including Gaara, the young Kazekage, called it, "Is this... The power... Of a God...":
However, Onooki, a damn powerful and experienced Kage, went up and lightened them to reduce their efficacy rather than freeze up or be struck in awe. It seems with Hashirama what we know is mostly hype, granted that could be do to historical decay since he lived 100 years ago or so. :shrug:

For those dismissing Naruto's friends importance, I think it's also important to remember what Itachi said over the course of 3-4 manga pages to Naruto after they defeated ET Nagato and Naruto wanted to shoulder the burden of doing everything himself (stopping Tobi, stopping Edo Tensei, etc.) without any help and the importance of friends:

This speech leads Naruto to a flashback of Iruka telling him the same thing when he first broke out from the tortoise island where he was training to join the war and that Naruto upon reflection had in fact been trying to do everything on his own:
The key from Itachi was for Naruto to, "...Do not forget your friends." Just because Naruto has become one of the most powerful characters in the Narutoverse doesn't mean that he has to or ought do everything on his own, which is what Itachi was saying, citing Minato's aid from Kushina and others. Naruto has friends and allies who count on him and that he can count on. Yes, Naruto is there to protect them, and no they aren't there to solo or group against Tobi while Naruto takes a breather per se. Friends lend support in numerous ways, and Naruto needs to acknowledge their worth as much as he needs them to acknowledge his, which they've been steadily doing. They want to help him because he's their friend whom they acknowledge as well for his ninja prowess. If he's on an entirely different level than them, they'll still want to do whatever they can. Further, you saw Naruto's clone acknowledge Hinata for saving him a second time when in KM, thus following Itachi's advice. While a bit more abstract, Naruto is doing the same thing with the Bijou

Remember that there's more to power to becoming Hokage, and I think Naruto's friends have to acknowledge that too. Acknowledging his power is going to be the easy part if it's not already done (I suppose they'll just upgrade with his power ups, lol), it's the other traits of the Hokage that Naruto's got to earn, and Naruto needs support there now from his friends reciprocally the same goes with acknowledgment.
