So things like that Natsu absorbed lightning and Gajeel absorbed shadow doesn't bother you at all nor does the fanservice and the nakama power ups people keep complaining about, but something that's in fact quite rational, believable and something that was actually to be expected is the thing that makes you quit? Really?
At this point people really seem to make irrational reasons, oh irony, up just so that they could make threads like these. Don't like the series? Then don't read it, but don't make threads that are jokes like these.

And I believe he will keep it. Not necessarily as something that's permanent active, like that now all his attacks are steel instead of iron, but that it's an ability he can activate for a certain time. I have been wondering for a while now that if Igneel is the Dragon King of the Flame Dragons, than Metallicana should be the Dragon King of the Earth or Metal Dragons. Metallicana doesn't appear to have an iron skin either, but more something in the nature of steel or even titanium.
Steel isn't a different element, it's an alloy based on the combination of carbon and mainly iron. With other words steel is a variation of iron and hence it's absolutely rational that Gajeel would be able to use it. I actually already considered Gajeel half and half as someone who could use more than just iron and that the latter was mainly a title. After all Natsu has been able to absorb a large variety of different flames and Igneel is the Flame Dragon King, so that Gajeel would be able to use variations of iron and that Metallicana might be something like the Metal Dragon King or the Iron Dragon King referring to the broad spectrum of iron variations that exist, is very possible.
But of all the supposedly non-sensical power ups you could be complaining about you actually picked out the one that by far is the most logical one as an excuse to make this thread?
