Weak three

So i have been rereading OP and i just got back up to after the 2year break, and something kinda stuck out to me which is when Usopp says to nami that he is no longer part of the weak three with her and chopper. That struck me as funny because i never considered Chopper or Nami weak, in fact both of them took down people from CP9 where as Usopp just ran and cried except for his bad ass sniper display against the marines. So here is my question, do you guys think that there is really a "weak" trio just like their is obviously the monster trio? or are you guys like me in that you think their is the monster trio, the middle 5, and then Usopp?
Oh and have we talked about the will of D and how the whole point of the story is that Luffy will cause the eventual downfall of the World Government and the nobles (cant spell there real name right now) and that sabo is probably alive and staying with Dragon and the revolutionary army, any discussion works for me

Yea there is a weak 3. Oda Structured it that way to maintain a balance within the characters.

I'm only currently on the Enies Lobby arc but so far, as much as I like Ussop, I do kinda count him and Nami the weakest. After seeing Chopper's beast mode, I can't call him weak xd

After Sabody archipelago, you are gonna be dissapointed in alot of charactes sorry to say.

Usopp is the most "human" guy in the crew. He knows that himself that was one of the reasons he quit the crew in Water 7. Nami doesn't have any skill in fighting or physical power so she has to rely on the gadgets Usopp and Franky give her. Together with her weather knowledge she has been powered up a little so she can hold her own.

I never really understand why chopper is considered one of the weak ones. His rumble ball restrictions are a huge drawback but some of his transformations are strong and monster point is almost unbeatable. Only Chopper needs to man up. He shouldn't cry so much. I understand he needs to be the cute charachter, the "pet" / mascot. But after the cuteness he should just kick some ass once in a while.

The monster trio has fought the most matches, we only had 2 Franky fights, only 1 real Robin fight on Skypedia and 1/2 Brook fight VS Ryuuma. So I hope we can get some tag style battles again like in the Alabasta arc so we can see some skills of everyone.

I think it is funny that Chopper, Nami, Usopp (and Pappug) were hiding in the new Sunny weapon after saying they aren't going to be the weakling trio anymore. But it was more for comic effect and Usopp was AGAIN!!! in a lucky positon. I hope for his sake that Oda will make it a running gag.

Well Sanji, that's exactly why Chopper is in the Weak trio. Because he doesn't believe in himself. In fact, if all of them were to gain more courage and confidence, they'd be 100 times stronger, and that has been shown countless of times.

I just dont really count Chopper and nami as weak. Yes, nami uses gadgets created by ussop to fight but she uses her knowledge and skill to deliver some serious pain to opponents. Chopper is crazy when he fights full out and i guess you can count them as the weak three but i really dont consider Chopper and Nami as weak, they regularly defeat opponents and do well where as ussop doesnt really ever do that except for thriller bark where he is so negative. Tried to phrase that so people not up to date would have no idea what im talking about. I in fact consider Nami and Chopper stronger than Brooks in my mind just because we have seen them both take down fairly strong opponents where as we have not seen that from Brook. I think he could but we have not seen that so far.:shrug:

I thought they considered themselves as the "weak trio" because, unlike the others, they are freaked out so easily. At least when I read that part, I was reminded of the beginnings of the Thriller Bark arc, where the three of them are scared and freaked out 95% of the time, from arriving at TB to Hogback's castle and Perona's garden and being chased by Lola and blah blah blah. Also as Lili-chwan mentioned, it was because, unlike the rest of their crew, they don't have much confidence and courage on themselves, if they did they would be a lot stronger.
Nami became stronger, she's definitively no weakling, after the battle with Kalifa she prooved it and then we saw her kicking ass as from that day, and after the timeskip she became powerful enough to almost blow up an entire building (or at least kick Fake Luffy's ass, right? xD) Usopp may be weak, I considered him the weakest straw hat. Before the timeskip, now he's stronger and seems to have gained the confidence he lacked before. As regards Chopper, I never considered him weak either, I think he's pretty powerful since the whole fight at the Franky House, if he wasn't the monster trio would've gone without him. And his fight with Kumadori was epic, Monster Chopper is really strong.

Yeah, lily-chwan is right, its only because they lack confidence... also they rather avoid fights rather than going into a confritation, guess attitude is a better explanation for the "classification" than real strength. Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro's first reaction is fighting, Brooks, Franky, and Robin dont really care either way, wont start a fight really but will finish it, the others, get freaked out and only fight if they really have to

there part of the 'weak' three b'cuz of how they get scared as one of the above post mentions..and people are saying how they've grown stronger, regardless compared to the monster-trio they are still weak. when usopp said that he obviousli didn see how much the others improved lol
