Personally, I believe that everybody was so focused on what Temari said that we forgot the meaning.

Temari say: "Being able to change people's hearts is one of the basic conditions to become a Kage."

This is a recurring theme in Naruto, people having a change of heart. And who do we know that changes people's hearts the most?????

NARUTO

Nagato, Kushina, Neji, Gaara. Those are just to name a few of the hearts that Naruto has changed. Not to mention the entire Shinobi army that has respect for him. I'm sure some of their hearts changed too.

I don't believe that Kishi was showing us that Shikamaru would make a good Kage, but rather that one of the most crucial things to being Kage, the above mentioned, is something that Naruto already has locked down.

Well yeah but showing temari have this thought was kinda of useless for that purpose. Early statements that he would make a good kage was a nod to his intelligence but at this current moment their was nothing to be gained by temari saying this unless it is some kinda foreshadow.

You see I don't know. Shikamaru is very smart. But he is not Hokage material. His dad was an incredibly smart guy but he was not Hokage material; he was a strategist. That's why when they were having a meeting to decide who should be the 6th Hokage they said Kakashi. Neither Shikamaru nor his father are suited to be a Hokage, but rather the right hand man. They are the Robin to the Hokage's Batman.

Shikimaru is one of the most clever ninja in these manga. If anyone who can compete with him is his dad.
I agreed he will be a good hokage as temari said. But he only have one basic point which made him not qualify enough to be one.

If it does, his dad already been the fourth hokage. However we do agreed he suit the advisor or strategy planner post the most for the ninja world.

And when the arc end the story could headed back. Naruto become hokage while everyone is rejecting sasuke due to what he did previously. It will more or less like the history between hashirama and madara. The ying will always go against the yang. Just like darkness and light.

However when ying and yang working together it will create a whole new world.

Hokage always been a strongest ninja in a clan who acknowledged by their clan member.

Talk no Jutsu. Currently the third strongest Genjutsu in NV. Even Kurama couldn't withstand it for 16 years.

I don't get how things that are totally clear can be taken out of context.

Since Temari said that, people think Shikamaru is going to be the Sixth Hokage.

It was foreshadowed too that Shikamaru prefers Naruto as a hokage, because it is Naruto's dream, because it would be a drag for Shikamaru, and because Shikamaru feels like he needs to follow Naruto.

Naruto has charisma, one of the main features of a leader.

Shikamaru is trustworthy, but he lacks the needed charisma to become a leader.
