Considering Madara is making use of his chibaku tensei which is extremely OP we can now get a 1% fraction of what the sage could really do.

Sage Chibaku Tensei was Moon Size and what Madara displayed was .000001% the size of the moon. Also we can conclude that the Sage's Limbo clones could have easily been in the 100's. No shinobi on the planet could defeat him UNLESS he GIVES them the power to beat him.

I think Madara isn't that far behind the Sage. The only thing stopping him is having ALL tailed beasts (100%) which the Sage had and could control with ease.

The sage is obviously stronger, with current showings. However, Madara still has more to show.

However, Madara does have some advantages over the sage. For example, the sage never had the juubi eye ( unless he lost it when he sealed the juubi in the moon)

Planet Wide genjustu is a pretty rediculous feat.

Perhaps Madara has just surpassed him but I'm still not entirely sure. Simply having that power won't grant you all of their feats.
