Rulers live better than the commoners always
That's only true if we compare commoners to kings in the same timeline, but that's not what this thread is about.

Compare like for like, not past to present. It's like saying a basic 2016 Ford Fiesta is better equipped than a 1964 Aston Martin DB5; well no sh*t Sherlock, but I know one which I'd rather own.

pc, phone and video games is not a luxury its a curse of this age.

luxury my ass, even some of the commoners in the past lived better than many from our time, because they lived real lives, felt real pain and real joy however brief, the age of technology has turned many into virtual zombies, avoiding the real world, that is not luxury its a curse. NB fits that discription.

but i dont expect you to understand that because youre born in into it likely.

If you understand that then maybe you won't be taking things in your life for granted. And everyone understand but most people forget.

You may not have power over someone else but you're free to do what you want and your standard of living is far greater than any king 100 years and back. You have more and better food, women, servants and a castle are about the only things missing but I don't know if I'd enjoy ****ing a girl who I knew didn't actually want to be there and castles are too large for no reason. A castle is merely big but the quality of your house(assuming you ain't poor) is far greater than a castle would be.
Speak for yourself, there is more to life than women.

Well there are many comparisons to make; some are better and some worse. I mean our technology is better sure, but is that enough to say that we live more content lives?

Most rulers could rule how they want to. They didn't have to work if they didn't want to or pay debts.

Most people in the U.S. are suffering from debt and are working ungodly hours just to survive. And saying we are free to do what we want is inaccurate since most people are too busy working jobs to do anything.

If we're comparing how happy past kings were to the average individual of our current society, then I am almost certain that most kings lived a more pleasant life.

What kind of kings you had?

Modern technology alone is not the only thing that decides quality of life.

I'm sure you're underestimating how easy a kings life is. You can trust your family and friends but in most cases a king can't because everyone is a potential backstabber who is plotting something. Everything he does is to preserve his current status and life, he has advisors that are pressuring him make certain decisions, he has to worry about alot of stuff. It's not all pleasurable.

And in most cases you can escape the daily grind and truly live a life doing only what you want by working hard for a few years and reaping the rewards. It's called capitalism.

Well that's absolutely not true. There are people who work three jobs and still don't reap the rewards as you claim because of debt.

People who are richer than we can dream to be didn't just work harder than anyone else. They either inherited their money, got lucky, exploited other people, or in rare cases actually invented something that is widely demanded.

Well I wasn't referring to a job. Start a business, whatever it is, create a product or service that fulfills a need or solves a problem. Make notes of how much you need to live on the rest of your life(depending on your desires), work towards that number and sell the business to x amount. Once that happens you ride off into the sunset.

It may take 1, 5, 10 years and in some cases even more so it's good to start young, but it's worth it.
Stop making excuses and get to work, luck doesn't exist. What you call luck is a product of hard work and patience.

If it's that easy, then why aren't you a millionaire?

You think smarter and harder working people than you and I haven't tried and failed?

62 of the richest individuals own half of the world's wealth. So those 62 people worked harder than the 7 billion rest of us?

I started my journey 2 years ago. My goal is to be a millionaire by the time I'm 25 years old. I don't need to own half the worlds wealth to live a great life and do what I want. It's not only about smarts, there are plenty of smart people who're bums because they sit on their ass and do nothing.

We have a better quality of living than kings of the past, but we do not live like kings. The life of a commoner during the medieval ages and the lives of the modern day middle-class would be a better comparison.

I've known people that have worked extremely hard day in and day out for decades; and they're only a little above the breadline. It's not how hard you work, but down to the luck of the draw.

Worked hard at what? That's the question. You tell yourself it's all about luck. When I reach my goal I'm probably going to get called lucky aswell.

I guarantee 100%. No margin of error that you will not become a millionaire. No chance whatsoever.

There are things called facts and statistics for a reason. The fact is that hard work does not equate to success. So you think no lower class individual works hard? They work jobs harder than upper class.

Do you know how the Popsicle was invented? It was an accident. The man left his soda on a porch all night and found that it froze with a stick in it the next morning. He eventually patented it and it gained popularity.

That's called luck.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. I don't care what you think. You will try any excuse to not do something yourself. You're a loser.

So how does what you say disprove that fact that people get lucky? It doesn't.

You keep claiming to be hard working but you work more hours and still make less than the average individual. So your logic fails.
