If you're a middle-class citizen, then you have more luxury than any royalty in the past.

This is mostly thanks to advancements in science and technology.
Today the internet and our phones play a significant role in our day to day lives.

In the future, something even better will come along.
Back in the day only royalties had balconies but now almost everyone does.

Even if you become the richest person in the world, all you can buy is limited to what exist today which if history is an indication will pale in comparison to the luxuries that will become available 100-200 years from now.

Of course we live on a planet and the earth has a finite resource which means the middle class won't be able to live like Bill Gates in the future, the amount of space available to him would be impossible to provide for everyone given our resources.

You may not have power over someone else but you're free to do what you want and your standard of living is far greater than any king 100 years and back. You have more and better food, women, servants and a castle are about the only things missing but I don't know if I'd enjoy ****ing a girl who I knew didn't actually want to be there and castles are too large for no reason. A castle is merely big but the quality of your house(assuming you ain't poor) is far greater than a castle would be.

It's quality over quantity bro, their riches mean nothing compared to you for the single fact of you living in the 21st century. You are better off than them. And what value is social status? Power brings corruption and you need to worry about 100 different mtfs, all of whom could be plotting shit. It's hard to trust people as a king. Respect?
