Yes, sasuke was really lucky he had a brother like itachi, if itachi didn't exist, then the WHOLE Uchiha clan would've been wiped ou, including sasuke : D

Well, aside from the years of screwing with his mind and warping his personality, Itachi did make certain that Sasuke was spared the fate of the rest of the clan.
It's obvious they love each other very much, but circumstances unfortunately made sure that in the end they both have (or had in Itachi's case) a rather difficult life, filled with a lot of lies.

He should have had a better childhood and life so he would be a normal happy young man now. Not as powerful but happy and not broken. He would have had parents, friends, a relationship and a normal life. Nothing wrong with that. But if his clan would have been killed anyway, by someone else, then yes, it was good Itachi was there to protect him from getting killed as well. Still, nobody deserves a life like Sasuke's.

Yes without Itachi, Sasuke wouldn't have Mangeyko Sharingan or Eternal Mangeyko Sharingan. And without Itachi, Sasuke would be dead as he would have been killed in the Uchiha clan massacre.
