Was Pain the best villain?

No. Pain doesn't even come close to Orochimaru. Orochimaru is literally the only good villain through and through. Everyone else pales in comparison.

Pain (not Nagato) is my favourite villain in Naruto. However, Madara might have been so, instead of Pain if he weren't thrown away the way he was.

If compared to the last three, yes, by far. Though Part 1 Oro beats him. I said Part 1 because Oro's character as a villain was broken when he decided to become Sasuke's guide lol.

I actually enjoyed Obito, as well as pain. Didn't like Juubi Jin Madara and I'm not sure how I feel about Kaguya.

If it weren't for his redemption then he would be the greatest villain without any contest. Though his sudden shift in beliefs does take points away. I'd say he, Orochimaru, and Tobi can all be pitted against each other for Naruto's greatest villain.

Basically this. Orochimaru and Tobi (Obito before basically his mask breaks) are the greatest villains in Naruto.

Kabuto is underrated as a villain tbh. He isn't the best by any means, but he has probably been the best one since Pain's death. I think his character is by far the best representation of what villains (even in real life) truly are.


Edit: Actually Tobi might be a better villain. Kabuto is just a better character. Or something like that...

He was a character worth praising. Pain Arc was just the epitome of Naruto, it was Excellent. I mean the dude said so many realistic quotes that fits so well in the reality of our existence. And the method he introduced for maintaining peace, well funny thing is that's what we are following. 2nd World War ended with Atomic Bomb, people know, understand and fear that powerful weapon of destruction and thus are living in momentary peace, in fear of Nuclear Warfare.
