Was Pain the Best Villain?

From a story standpoint?

I mean he was the "leader" of the Akatsuki, the organization hunting Naruto.
He demolished Konoha, Naruto's home.
He killed Jiraiya, the closest thing Naruto had to a father.
He killed Kakashi, Naruto's sensei and one of the most important people in his life
He murdered Hinata right in front of Naruto's eyes.
And all the while, he was an Uzumaki and a student of Jiraiya. Naruto and Pain had a very close bond, but couldn't have been worse enemies.

Plus, he's a *cant use a no no word because the mods will delete my thread* badass.

I personally think Pain was the greatest villain from a story standpoint.

He was totally my fav villan until he got tnj'd.....its just my opinion but I belive a good villan has to be commited to his convictions. Letting sentimental words bowl you over just isn't very villaness in my opinion.

Pain was indeed an epic villain, but only the best of the shipuuden. a lot of part 1 villains were pretty epic...

i agree, hes also my favourite villain...^^ though i also HATED the evil itachi( when you hate some1 cause hes a strong villain it only shows how well written they are) same goes to pain =)
but i like itachi even more after i found out his story...

Pain was my favorite, and his redemption made sense since he and Naruto had the same teacher and similar ideals at one point. Maybe the whole "revive everyone" thing was a little of a wtf but yeah he was a good one

Hiruzen stated that Orochimaru transformed from human to demon. Orochimaru all the way. Pain comes 2nd imo.
