- Got no development in part 2.
- Didn’t confront his Edo father.
- Was killed over a ship that didn’t happen until 2 years later in the story.
- Only Hinata, Lee, and Naruto were shown grieving him.
- TenTen made a joke about his death right after it happened.
- His funeral only got one page while Hiruzen and Asuma got whole chapters to their’s.
I'm going to say yes.
He was not disrespected and here is why:
1. Getting no development is not disrespect because Neji had no real relation to the major elements of the plot. It was mainly the conflicts within Hagoromo's side of the family that led to the events of the series (not Hamura's). Neji did not relate to the bijuus or akautski or the eye of the moon plan or Kaguya or any of the important stuff. Therefore he didn't need any more development in part 2.
2. Neji did not get to choose where he got deployed and the alliance didn't know every specific edo tensei person that was revived. Therefore, neither Neji nor the leaders of the alliance could control the fact that Neji didn't get to see his edo father. This is not disrespect. That is just how it is in war. You can't always pick your battles.
3. The part about the ship is true, but it is also known that people were just rampantly complaining and begging for deaths in the war. Plus, it was foreshadowed by both Nagato (when he said "war, hatred, death and pain are the things you will be facing in coming times") and Kurama (when he said "What will you do if one of your friends gets killed?") that a Konoha 11 member would die in the war. Kishi probably just figured that he could fulfill the foreshadow, fulfill fans' complaints and fulfill the romance aspect all in one go with Neji's death. Therefore it wasn't disrespect (but still sad for Neji).
4. You don't have to have a lot of people grieving for you. It really doesn't matter how many you have to be honest. You're dead after all. Besides, Neji didn't seem to be close to that many people. Therefore it is fitting that only a few people grieved. Therefore, this was not disrespect.
5. I'll admit that Tenten's joke was way too soon. It was the same night that he died for that matter.
6. His funeral only warranted one page. Kishi had other stuff to show, and more people (including named Konoha ninjas) died in the war than just Neji. Shikaku and Inoichi died too, but nobody complains for them.
Summation: Neji was not disrespected.
