Nope, one of the main themes of the manga was the previous generation surpassing the old one. It's a common misconception that Naruto is weaker than Hashirama without the bijuu.

No. The name of the show is Naruto. If you didn't expect him to get stronger, no matter the circumstance than you're a little up dur but seriously if he wouldn't have surpassed them than the show would've been even more retarded .
