smoker also seemed to be as powerful as ace which turned out to be false later on
ace could grow and develop more as he was younger (not saying jinbei didnt , but at his age he is not going to grow so much) , ace was learning how to use his devil fruit powers when he fought jinbei

jinbei is about as powerful as base luffy post-timeskip , luffy surpassed him because of his haki , and ace did the same
