[Discussion] Was Jinbei that strong?

Seemed like he was equal to Ace before the series even began. I may be forgetting something obvious....

So how strong was he, what tier/rank?

I think he was stronger (by a good margin) then ace I'm not just talking about ability wise either thts really a bad match up cuz jinbe should have haki witch ace doesn't have so yeah he's pretty strong
If he were to join straw hats right now I would place him above sanji and Zoro tho either would give him good fight (expceially sanji cuz of how he can move in water and he can fly)
Not sure if I place him above luffy

He doesn't use Haki, he uses Fishman Karate, so he can still fight Logias, since he can affect the water that is in their bodies. I believe he's very strong, and he even improved during the timeskip. He's almost equal to Luffy in my opinion, and may be stronger than Ace as he currently is.

He stalemated against a rookie Ace. I think it's been 4 years since that happened, not sure. I'd place him slightly under the M3 or equal with Sanji at best.

Well for one, Ace was no weakling.

Also besides his fight with Ace we have yet to see him fight all out.

I'm saying his growth rate since the fight against Ace up until after the timeskip is probably way less compared to the M3.

That's obvious, but his skills were much higher than theirs Pre TS as well.

Well naturally, the M3 are still young, and have alot to learn so a course their growth rate will be substantial. But I still think Jinbei is stronger then them.

I would venture that at this moment he's probably at least as strong as Luffy, or just a little below him (above Zoro and Sanji)

To be fair, it was a super-rookie logia type who was offered a Shichibukai position.
All in all, even when a bit younger, Ace was still a huge monster.

Right now, Luffy and probably Zoro are stronger than Jinbei.​
