[Discussion] Was Ace intruduced too early?

OK, say Ace wasn't introduced to as during in Alabasta and the story continued as it did (except the Ace part) and instead they meat in the New World after the war and 2yr training. and in the war Ace was saved and WB died. Ace acknowledges Luffy's strength and joins the SH's since WB is dead. I think oda didn't realise how popular Ace would get, what do you guys think?

This is in no way a complaint or petition of any sort against Oda or his story, it is simply a discussion of a "what-if" scenario.

His death sucked and we didn't get to see much of his true abilities. I kinda wished he joined the SHs. But then again we wouldn't have the chance to witness the Impel Down jailbreak and Navy vs WB war (which I'm still at )

No. The fact that Ace died hurt... It did, but it formed the series. If he hadn't been introduced, then Luffy would never leave Kuja island, go to Impel Down, then go to Marineford, meet Jinbe, get trained by Rayleigh, give the message to the SH and alot more.

even if he wasn't introduced to us..luffy knew who Ace was..so he would have still went, and oda could have carried one with ace's story post-2 yr

I'm pretty sure most fans of the series are content with Ace & WB's death.
That's just the way it is.

I don't believe Oda has made any mistakes. So no, Ace wasn't introduced too early.

i'd like to think oda's human..human=mistakes

Look at it this way.
No Ace death, No Luffy Haki training/awakening.

nah it was fine, what disappointed me was that he only got some reasonable character development AFTER he died. seeing as he was a pretty important character, luffy's brother and central to a whole arc, that was a bit odd. but him joining the straw hats would be strange, ace with whitebeard was fine. it suits both characters nicely.

i mean fight to his full potential..for instance the lil bit he fought against, smoker, aokiji, even magma brat was pretty good i thought. against smoker he was just buying time, and in the war he was already wasted. so if he was to join SH's in the new world he would have gotten more spotlight.

well i did say everything else carried on as it did. SH's get defeated by the pacifistas>luffy gets sent to maiden island> see's the news and heads to the prison>escapes prison and goes to war>saves ace but WB dies>meets up with luffy and joins SH cuz BB has taken over WB territory and also ows him for saving his life

wel the way it was ace had to die i agree...and the fact that ace was to important to luffy is the reason i think he sudn hav died

Ace died because Sakazuki mocked WB and Ace retaliated.
Sakazuki went for Luffy, Ace intercepted bam.

It was Luffy's faltering stamina and Ace's pride that cause the situation.
Had Ace just continued on his run, maybe he would've been saved.

I honestly think that if it weren't for Ace's death, the SH wouldn't have made any progress for the NW.

All the events happened the way it should of IMO.

It is true that we could not see much of ace's potential but he did get pretty good character development .Ace is not the main character ,luffy is ...so what ever ODA has done regarding Ace is fine so far except for Ace's death.I had tears in my eyes in entire episode.I too wish he was alive

Yes everything happens for a reason but it's nice to see some "what if" scenarios even if they don't necessarily help the story or make sense. xd
