walking with demons : Chapter 2:
“Thea!!” Her voice screamed as she wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug, squishing me to her body, and placing her head on top of mine, her brown hair hanging in my face as she hugged me tighter.
“S-Sarah… you’re coking me,” I groaned out as Sarah my best friend hugged me tighter again, not losing her grip one little bit. She hasn’t changed since I met her in primary school; always full of energy and smiling like a fool, who doesn’t know when to give up. She can brighten up anyone’s day no matter how horrible its starts off as, it is just the kind of person she is, and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Even though she might kill me from these hugs one day.
“But Thea, I missed you!” she giggled loosening her grip, and slipping out in front of me. Her big brown eyes full of excitement as she saw my face.
“ I missed you too,” I smiled up at her. It was never me smiling down at people always up, I seem to have inherited a small gene, I have always been small, I can’t remember a time when I was taller then somebody. Oh well, I guess you get use to that fact after a while, and I don’t mind Sarah being taller then me or anyone else really, being small is kind of fun, in it’s own little way.
“So my little Thea, how was your holidays?” she smiled brightly, grabbing my hand as we started walking toward our lockers.
“It was okay I guess, kind of boring. What about yours”
“Oh mine were great! We got to go everywhere this time! The beaches are beautiful up there Thea! You would have loved it! And how can yours be boring?”
“They just were,” I sighed.
“Okay then.” She said softly obviously not happy with my answer. She knows I never do anything, it shouldn’t be such a surprise, but it gets to her every time like me not enjoying my holidays bugs her. I guess I wouldn’t blame her she is always worrying about me, she is like my second mum in away, and I’m glad she is like that. It makes her so much more fun to be around sometimes, I guess it makes her Sarah and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As we reached our lockers a light hand touched my shoulder making me jump, but at the same time feel so warm and good inside. There is only one person on earth that I know of that can do that, and she is the most perfect person on this planet. With her long white hair that goes to her knees, her thin figure and bright blue eyes, and pale skin, she looks like an angel sent from heaven, this is the only way to describe Rosemary-may. She could have every guy in the school at her feet, be the most popular person in this place but no she chose to hang with Sarah and I, the geeks of the school. I’m glad she chose us, because it wouldn’t be the same with out her.
She makes our group whole in away, completes our little triangle. I turned around to look at her bright face, she had place on a white dress today, which just made her glow. Sometimes I feel so ugly and inferior against her, but then I think I shouldn’t because she is my friend and we’re equal.
“Morning Rose,” I smiled brightly hugging her, she just patted me on the head and smiled back. She never really talks unless she has to or is made to, it sort of gives her a shy approach but really she isn’t shy at all. She can be so loud and out right about what she is thinking, but it depends what mood she’s in.
“Shaun!” Sarah squealed from next to me, making Rose chuckle at the lovebirds and me just giggle at them as well. It wasn’t everyday you saw a girl squeal and bail over her boyfriend, so they were now laying on the floor in the middle of the locker room. I guess, it is Sarah, and it is so like her after not seeing her precocious Sheep in two weeks. Rose and I have nickname Shaun, Sheep after watching a little kids show with a sheep named Shaun in it, and it sort have stuck to him since. He is use to it by now, but when we first started to call him it, he absolutely hated it and us for it. His warmed up since then, plus he had no choice but to because of Sarah being our best friend and all.
“Hey Sheep, having fun on the floor.” I giggled as he pulled a face toward Rose and I.
“Well yes I am, Thea, least I can get some,” he mocked.
“Well…” “Thea just ignore him… and leave the lovebirds lie.” Rose cut in with her sweet sounding voice before poking her tongue out at sheep that still has Sarah on top of him. I looked up at Rose and sighed before moving off to class, with a bunch of books in my hands and a mess of thoughts running through my head.
The classroom was already half full by the time I took my seat up against the window, Rose wasn’t to far behind, it only took her a minuet before she was in the seat next to me. Already getting her books out and ready like usual. She was always so organized, ever since she came here at the start of the year, I don’t think I could imagine her as a slob of any kind. It’s hard to think how she can be so perfect, but I guess that’s in her nature.
I turned my head to look out side the window, the empty grounds seemed so peaceful but at the same time kind of creepy. The branches of the trees swayed with new green leaves poking up, the rusted old seats hadn’t changed places, and looked as if they became older over the two weeks we had been gone. The new building on the other side of the courtyard had gone up, and it looked as if it was close to completion. The place was all coming together, as I and many others have watched it over these four years. I looked up toward the sky, the clouds were rolling in, and it looks like we are going to have another rainy day. Not that I mind at all, the rain seems to sooth me, but if it’s a storm it dose the opposite. I don’t like those loud dark thunderous noises for some reason, I never have and well I guess I never will.
“Good morning class!” Mr. Keshena beamed interrupting my thoughts and making me jump out of my seat, while the whole class erupted in laughter. Through their giggles I could make out something like, she was day dreaming again, and haha weird girl got scared. Rose taped me on the shoulder, just to tell me to relax and to ignore their laughter. I didn’t mind though I knew I was going to embarrass myself sooner or later, and well it turned out to be sooner.
“Calm down class,” he growled, before continuing. “Now today we have….” The door burst open then and Sarah came running in, her face bright red and her brown hair a complete and utter mess, her mini skirt was crooked and her singlet top scuffed to one side, with one of her socks up and the other down. It was kind of sad how everyone in the class new what she had been up to, just by looking at her. They all had smirks on their faces and some even whispered and mutter to each other. Rose just shock her head in disappointment, last time she had a go at Sarah for doing what she did with Sheep, she so religious sometimes. She told her about in the eyes of God that *** before marriage was wrong, but Sarah poked her tongue out and told her that Rose only says that because she never tried it. I would sit there and laugh at the two of them, they were so different yet so a like.
“Miss. Opinata, nice of you to join us. What kept us waiting for your presence this time?” Mr. Keshena growled again making a sarcastic noise, as Sarah reached her seat next to Rose and sat down, scattering her books across the desk, in an un-orderly fashion. She pouted her lips up at Mr. Keshena, making her big puppy dog eyes and crossing her arms across her chest. “I’m sorry Sir, I was caught up with something….” She mumbled looking down at her books again. “I didn’t mean to be late…”
“It’s fine Sarah, we will talk about it after class. In detention.” Sarah groaned placing her head in her hands, Rose leaned over and whispered in her ear something so quiet that I couldn’t pick up. I just turned to face the window again, ignoring the world, it was going to be another normal day it seems, and I sighed at that thought. It always seem this way, nothing interesting ever happened at West Mist High, it was just a boring high school, and now all I can think back to is what happened this morning with Miki, and now Cam hasn’t talked to me since we left this morning. I wonder what is going on, their making me more worried not telling me anything because I always think back to the worst.
Then class burst into talking all of a sudden bring me back to the classroom and away from my horrible thoughts about this morning. I looked at Rose, who didn’t seem to impressed with what ever just happened but I tapped her on the shoulder anyway.
“Rose,” I whispered. “What’s going on?”
“Sir just announced that we are getting a male student teacher, but he seems to be late.” Rose whispered back. This was just going to put the class in a frenzy, and Rose knew that, hence the glum look on her face. A student teacher was always a big thing here; he or she was older and usually good-looking. Many of the students here would fantasize over them; I just don’t understand how they can and either can Rose. It was something we both thought was just plain insane, but then Sarah always loved those student teachers; I can’t seem to figure out why. Then again she is Sarah, but hopefully now she will be on our side since she has a guy.
A slight knock at the door interrupted all the racket of the class, making them all glance at the door including us. Mr. Keshena walked slowly over to it, opening it as slowly as he could muster as the class waited in anticipation. A black leather shoe entered into the doorway, following that the rest of him. He took his sweet time, as all the girls in the class giggled and gasped at the sight of him, he moved perfectly like he was floating along the wooden flooring. He stopped turning to face us, his dark eyes glowed under his long jet-black hair, and his pale skin hinted a slight tan. He wore a black trench coat with a black shirt and black slacks. He seemed very dark, and like he didn’t want anyone in his head, with the feeling of slight danger that surrounded him. But then he gave a breath-taking smile as Mr. Keshena closed the door. I heard many of the girls sigh in ewe of it, and here we go again was all that came to my head.
A soft growl came from next to me, Rose’s nose was scrunched up, her eyes glowed with anger and she had her hands into tight fists. She had only seen the guy for to minuets and she was already mad, which was weird considering he did nothing wrong.
“Rose, relax.” I said watching her jump as she looked at me, her eyes softened and she sighed.
“Okay,” she whispered and placed her head down on the desk. That’s when I saw Sarah her eyes wide and her mouth dropped; she had the complete I’m in love with a total stranger look. I was wrong before, I see that now as she stairs at him senseless. What a fool I was thinking she would agree with me and rose, but maybe I could snap her out of it before it’s to late.
“Sarah,” I muttered. “Sarah,” I repeated her still not listening. “Sarah,” I lifted my voice a little louder and she looked at me, not very impressed with me interrupting her purveying time on the teacher. “You have a boyfriend remember,” she looked shocked, then she sighed.
“You ruin all the fun Thea, you know that.” She growled softly before placing her head down on the table like Rose.
“Class be quiet for two dam seconds.” Mr. Keshena yelled and everyone shut the mouths. “Thank you, now go a head.” he gestured to the student teacher to speak.
“Thanks,” the student teacher said his voice made a shiver run down my spine as he eyes looked around the classroom. “I would like to introduce myself, my name is Damin Macnarki…”
