one there relatives eyes fuse with there eyes and create MS which is the way everyone believes it to be, then there is your idea where the eyes are removed and the eyes of the family member are put in and then you gain EMS.
But from the evidence from the transplant for Kakashi his damaged eye was never removed and Obito's eye was placed into the damaged eye, Rin was using medical chakra when she did replace the eye so to me it looks as though the eyes Fuse and become one, but if not then your idea makes total sense.
