Yes but the series isn't called Neji, it would only seem right that Naruto gets it. No one else even had this thought until recently.

To be honest, I've had the thought of Sasuke becoming Hokage to end the curse of hatred for a long time now.

Naruto because he is the hero of the leaf. The current Hokage would recommend Naruto over the others, including Sakura. Lots of other high ranking leaf shinobi would recommend him as well. He has Kurama and is the son of a previous Hokage. He has had the ambition the longest and let everyone in the leaf know about it. The population of the village would favor Naruto over the others.

Now my opinions.

Naruto only wanted to become hokage at first because he wanted to be acknowledge and admired. Now that he's older his thoughts have matured and now he wants to also wants to protect the village and create peace.

Right now Naruto is doing all that without even being Hokage. Plus everyone is acknowledging him (except Sasuke obviously) and he is also admired. I Believe he doesn't need to become hokage. Just wants to because it stuck with him as a youngster.

Sasuke on the other hand wants to become Hokage now. Because of his brothers will and because he understands the role of a Hokage and what it's going to take to change the village. He doesn't want the mistakes of the past Hokage to repeat itself.

Sasuke has made mistakes but in the end, he has helped the village more than he has hurt it. Naruto has always helped it and plans to do so in the future. It's hard to decide but I would have to go with Sasuke's Ideals

Naruto doesn't seem smart enough to handle the task of being a Hokage. I see him as a protector and a power house. But Sasuke can be seen as someone who can handle all of it's responsibilities.

As I see it. Sasuke should be Hokage and Naruto a leaf higher up, or ( right hand man).

I'll agree, I did say create peace, so there shouldn't have to be a correction. But I'll stick with what I said, Naruto wouldn't be able to handle all the responsibilities.
If Naruto is Hashirama than I guess Sasuke would be Madara. From what we can tell is that Madara was right about the annihilation of the Uchiha clan. Maybe if Madara would of became Hokage instead of Hashirama things would have been different. I backed my statement up so please back yours up.

You're assuming Sasuke can handle budgets and Naruto can't? I'm sure they both have a similar level of intelligence in that regard. Naruto may not hold his tongue but that stands to his conviction. Tsunade and the Raikage respect him for it, and why not after all he has done? Naruto has a better understanding of what needs to be done to create peace than Sasuke. J-man left his dream of peace for Naruto to carry on. He also inspired Nagato to retain hope for peace through him. Naruto has been set up for this position by the job description you provided.

Village improvements would be something drawn out by someone other than the Hokage (why draw them up yourself when people have careers devoted to just that). The Hokage would just approve or decline such a thing according to how much man power they needed, resources needed, etc. However, Naruto could create clones to take care of the manpower himself.

As for stopping blood shed and hate, Naruto literally defeated the hate within himself. Sasuke has been consumed by it for a very long time. While that may give Sasuke an insight unique to his position, that would still only qualify him to be an adviser next to Naruto. Naruto has been urging Sasuke to abandon his hate for a long time, and it was just recently that Sasuke took that advise.

I can agree kind of with the Gaara part, since he did become Kazekage so quickly. Yet, those offenses weren't directly attacking the five kage summit. It doesn't matter if his intention was just to kill Danzo because he still ended up engaging other kages in battle because he invaded their meeting. He was considered a criminal at the time and of course that other kages were prepared to deal with him. Everything that happened there was entirely Sasuke's fault. That's like walking into the UN and saying you just wanted to kill one certain official and expecting everyone else to be fine with it, regardless of whether you warned them or not.

Sasuke decided to side with the leaf which does redeem him partially. Yet there will certainly be other villages that will be angry with him if he becomes Hokage. Assuming Ay is dead, do you think the new Raikage is going to be happy sitting next to a man that took his predecessors arm? The tension that would result from Sasuke becoming Hokage would work against an ideal of peace.

If the manga somehow grants him full immunity from his crimes and everyone is fine with him (complete bullshit), then Naruto is still clearly a better choice. He is the hero that hasn't failed his people. Sasuke is the guy that betrayed his friends, endangered the lives of very influential people, and just decided one day that he was sorry and wanted to make it up to everyone.

You make good points, yeah Naruto is the person, right now, who can protect the village best, and that is the main role of a Kage after all.

Yes, budget. From the information we know naruto isn't really the smartest person. It may not take alot be he isn't patient either. His clones yes would come in handy in manpower but Naruto's not the type to be calm and think rationally in a intense situation. It's been proven. His emotions guiding his words, thats a bad thing as to being Hokage. Both Tsunade and Raikage might respect but it doesn't mean it's a requirement to become Hokage.

Sasuke doesn't only understand the hate specific to him he also knows the history that has been repeated in the village. Naruto only urged Sasuke not to take revenge because he knew it was wrong and because he didn't want him to be consumed by darkness. Naruto never understood Sasuke's pain. Sasuke didn't change cause of Naruto he changed cause of Itachi and what Hashirama said to him. You're right about Naruto understanding how to create peace. But Sasuke understands what needs to be done to save the village from a repeat of bloodshed and hate. Jiraiya didn't leave Hokage for him. He left him to find a way that all shinobi understand eachother, a way to find peace. Not Hokage.

Sasuke has made mistakes but he has helped more that he hurt, even if it was unintentionally. Sasuke never said sorry for the things he has done and he never said he would make it up to anyone. He wants to only protect the thing his brother died for and follow his brothers will. Sasuke bears the hatred of his whole clan but he's putting it aside for his brother.

But if we put it in terms of Naruto as Hashirama and Sasuke as Madara. Well Madara told Hashirama that one day the Uchiha's will be annihilated and he wanted to become Hokage to change that. But instead Hashirama did and what Madara foretold actually came true. Madara truly cared for the village and his people, he seen the hate festering and wanted to stop it. But he didn't have the chance as for no one wanted him to be Hokage except Hashirama. But in the end Madara did know what was best and Hashirama failed. Later Madara became corrupted but before that his ideals were what the village needed and the village didn't want to accept him just like Sasuke. What the village needs is Sasuke.
