Background History
There is not very much information about Kurenai's past. Kurenai was born in June 11 and lives in Konohagakure. Her parents and other family is quite unknown.
Kurenai graduated from the academy at the age of 9, took the chuunin exam and became chuunin at the age of 13.
She was present for the Nine-Tails attack on Konoha at age of 15, and was among a group of younger ninjas that wanted to help in the efforts to repel the Nine-Tails, but the group was barred by older ninja, including her father.
She has a natural talent for genjutsu and because of this, the Third Hokage tasked Kurenai with helping to train Yakumo Kurama, another talented genjutsu user who longed to be ninja. However,
because Yakumo couldn't control her illusions and thus endangered those around her,
Kurenai had to seal away her ninja abilities, in turn keeping her from ever becoming a shinobi.
It has been heavily hinted that Kurenai was romantically involved with fellow jōnin Asuma Sarutobi.
The truth of their relationship was made clear in Part II when Kurenai revealed that she is pregnant with Asuma's child.
