Not to mention Jiraya did hold back a little with the fight because he needed to find the truth behind Pein so he could give it to Konoha.

Jiraiya faced only one Path first and had already big trouble in reaching the Senninmode. After, 3 Paths gave him a though fight but lost against him. On Jiraiyas own fault, another Path appeared. Jiraiya wouldn't stand a real chance against all six paths of Pain at their fullest. Deva, who is stronger than the other Paths by far, didn't even act against Jiraiya except of piercing him with one rod in the end.

Stop underrating him man

1- He was considered as the strongest in the leaf before he died

2- Hiruzen(God of Shinobi) always wanted him as his successor

3- Itachi and Kisame wanted to avoid him in part1 because they knew a fight against him would be tough and they could have died

4- He pretty much one shoted 2 strong Akatsuki members in part1(Itachi and Kisame) if Itachi didn't used Amaterasu to escape. Anyway Kisame was screwed

5- On drugs he managed to stalemate with Orochimaru and he still had his trump card(SM)

6- Without knowledge and on ennemys territory he wanted to deal with Akatsuki leader and almost managed to beat him with his toad genjutsu if Pain was complete at that time

7- With one hand 1 vs 6, he still managed to beat Animal Path0

8- Invincible Pain acknowledged the fact that he would have lost against him if he knew his secret

Jman is strong. Stop underrating him guys

1. true
2. Oro
3. partly true itacghi wasnt evil
4. after seeiing them both they would have killed him mid diff
5. and oro couldnt use his arms/ninjustu and he fought them and their summons with tai and kin justsu and lived
6. false thought there was only 3
7.true a dead body that can be replaced
8. a thought but not entirely true like saying if pain knew all his moves he easily kill jman

I agree to don't think he get's enough credit, imo he didn't even get to show us his full potential.

I miss the old pervy sage.

No offense but I'll trust Nagato's judgement over yours.

Sage Mode's biggest weakness IS the time it takes to reach it.

I can sympathise with Jiraiya's error in assuming the battle was over as he came there looking for one man, defeated three, and was defeated by six. Sensing the Paths might be harder than sensing regular humans due to their physical makeup, seeing as instead of having a large chakra supply that steadily decreases they receive the chakra they use for jutsu near-instantly through the rods.

Deva isn't unbeatable, and SM Jiraiya is fast. He can cross a vast distance and form a GIANT Rasengan in less than the time it takes for his sandal to reach the ground, and easily destroys Deva in close combat.

Pain said that Jiraiya would have won if finding out his secret earlier. Finding out his secret doesn't make Pain weaker, but it would mean that Jiraiya could meet Nagato, who is bound to his machine and is unable to fight. In fact, Jiraiya lost against Pain, though latter wasn't using his whole power. Also Naruto, who perfected the Senninmode, was inferior to Pain, fought him in a long scene while Devas abilities weren't present and kissed the floor pretty quickly after Devas power returned. Deva alone soloed Naruto along with his boss summons and Fukasaku.

The thing about Nagato is that his abilities are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER NINJA. That's what's important about the whole "finding out his secret" deal, not the fact that Nagato in his wheelchair-thing is a seemingly easy target. Jiraiya lost against Pein because he let his guard down after he *thought* he'd won the battle.

Base Jiraiya >>>>>> Base Naruto. Even Imperfect Sage Mode Jiraiya is >>>> Sage Naruto (though to a lesser degree), for MANY reasons.

He is far more dangerous in taijutsu. He doesn't run out of Sage Mode (thanks, shoulder toads!). He has more varied and battlefield-changing ninjutsu. He has two OTHER Perfect Sages on his shoulders, who can offer advice and distractions for the opponents, as well as having their own, powerful abilities. Things like Shima's tongue (her hellish, demonic tongue!), Fukasaku's water jutsu (he can bisect boss summons!), their potential for combination ninjutsu and the EXTREMELY dangerous Toad Song. He is immune to genjutsu which don't take out Fukasaku and Shima at the same time, immune to Sharingan genjutsu as he doesn't need to open his eyes to "see" the opponent (like Kabuto). He can predict even MUCH faster opponent's moves, much like in Naruto's battle against the Third Raikage.

There's even the argument that not being a Perfect Sage might grant MORE powerful attacks on its own, at least when the problem is TOO MUCH natural chakra, as the only difference seems to be appearance, a slight anatomical change Jiraiya has long since learned to compensate for, and the danger of turning into a toad. Having MORE natural chakra than is safe to use (like SM Naruto doesn't) might just add to the magnitude of Kawazu Kumite and offer more energy to enhance ninjutsu at once.

Deva Path is VERY well suited to fighting large monsters, like boss summons and the Kyuubi. How odd, that the Rinnegan's most powerful ability would be suited to fighting things like the Juubi.

Deva is much less effective against smaller, more mobile foes.
