[Discussion] Under-rated Swordsman

This is my candidate for Number 1 Under-rated swordsman in a manga.

I blame the under-rating on a lack of knowledge about the character.

His name is Masamune Date and he is from Sengoku Basara.

He's in those samurai warrior games and spin offs, devil kings and warriors orochi . Don't think he's underrated, in fact he's iconic

I haven't seen many swordsman in anime, apart from Bleach.

Zoro & Mihawk in OP.

Bee, Omoi, Sasuke, Zabuza, Kisame, Suigetsu, Chojuro and the rest of the Seven Ninja Swordsman.

Cast of SAO.

But I don't think any of them would qualify for the title "Under Rated"...

Any anime that have great sword fights are cool in my books, but I don't know that many... Can you recommend some?

Actually yes, I love samurai and ninja so I watched a lot with those, some are:

7 Samurai(based on Kurosawa's classic Samurai 7, which I recommend)
Afro Samurai(Samuel L Jackson need I say more)
Samurai Champloo(Muugen and Jin are right under Date in my fav. swordsmen)
Sengoku Basara
Ninja Scroll
Basalisk(crazy fights)
Shiguri "death Frenzy"(about the one armed swordsman vs Zatoichi "blind swordsman")
Ruroni Kenshin
Sword of the Stranger
Bamboo Blade(one of the few female protagonist in an anime I've seen and a Kendo student)

Mine either but I think a lot haven't seen him or this anime so they don't know about him thus when mentioning him people will under-rate him not knowing anything about him.

He is Iconic I agree, to those who have seen him and that's the problem this isn't as popular an anime as Naruto or Bleach so many people don't really know him. The fact that he was a real life Samurai during the Tokugawa period makes me like him more.

Date is a Samurai just like Mifune only using 6 swords 3 in each hand. Each of his hands is like a little Zoro lol.

Ruroni Kenshin...Read that...tends to make other swordsman look bad.


OT: sadly IDK this guy....so it isn't under rates so much as simply unknown. ^.^
