It is harder, I found it easyer in US1 to substitute,
and yes there is hand to hand combat, but you should know when to stop the combo, like this Minato has a combo after the 4rth hit substitute is very easy, I always stop there and guard.
Also the trick is to use your support efficiently, if you are making a combo, and you get substitute you should use a attack support so he can get you out of it.
Playedd a few times online, and I also found the basic online people are spammers, Me my self I play also with Minato, he is a fairly spammer. But I don't you need to know when to stop and where to go further that it increases your chances to finish the combo off.
Suggestion if you hate spammers, get Neji in your support his shield can quickly deflect the spammer.

Well, in US1 I never finished combo's anyway, usually started guarding after a few hits, sub out, launch them in air and then its Tsukiyomi time
Almost impossible to dodge that combo, but its tricky to actually do.

Sometimes I use tobi with deidara and itachi as support. itachi is a great quard. if you call in your support alot you'll get support drive (sp?) or something like that, and they begin coming in on their own.

Just played UNS2 again, and goddamn I hate those Deidara spammers, but I can handle those. Trick is to Kunai them down, but how do you guys handle Sage naruto barraging the whole time rasengan ffs...

Well I got the game Monday and I have been playing it ever since and I have beaten the story, and I have unlocked everyone. Yeah the story is great in its own way seeing as it doesn't fallow the manga to the "T" but its still good epic boss fights tear jerker moments but great all the same. I took it to a game store I usually hang out at yesterday and we played it there for about 45 minutes.
But I have to say I can't wait for the 3rd one if they are gonna make it cause I wanna see the fight beaten Taka and the Raikage, Sasuke vs Danzou, and Naruto vs Sasuke. This also makes me wonder since they did a flash back fight for both Naruto vs Sasuke and Naruto vs Jiriya (I know thats not how you spell his name) if they will do the same for Minato vs Madara on the night Naruto was born.
I unfortunately don't have a PS3 but I do have a 360 so if ya wanna have a good match then my Live Account name is BearTuX. Trust me in this game I am an up close and personal fighter with a few secrets at hand.

This is already my favorite game of the year. It even beats FIFA 11, well maybe.
1 v 1 single battles are the best.
team battles are annoying spam fests, as i predicted.
Story mode is awesome.
Cons
Orochimaru should be able to transform into 8 snakes. He should also have more jutsu, probably the most jutsu in the game. Where's Rashoumon?
Why the hell cant Tsunade summon Katsuyu? Another underrated character... no jutsu at all.
Neji's jutsus should affect your chakra in at least some way. I'm amazed that the 2nd, 3rd, and 1st hokages are not in the game instead of some wtf character Lars.
Deidara, Itachi, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakuzu, Kakashi were all well done. They put alot of thought into this game and I realize that everytime I play it.
