if the sage of the six paths had the rinnegan, where did the sharingan's appearance and design come from?

i believe it was a mutation from the rinnegan but then again the 10 tails is seen with rinnegan and sharringans all over its body so that could possibly mean that the sharringan and the rinnegan were made at the same time because the 10 tails came before the sage i believe but apparantly the sharringan came from the rinnegan mutating so its all very conflicting but my money is on them both created at the same time in the 10 tails.

i was thinking the same thing, the ten tails eyes resemble the sharingan more then the rinnegan, its weird.

yes he had the primitive version of it, im just wondering where the design we see now come from, im just confused why it looks more like the ten tails eye then the rinnegan.

The Uchiha are said to be descendants of the Hyuuga, with the Byakugan changing into the Sharingan over time. The normal eye for an Uchiha clan member resembles any normal human eye with iris, pupil and sclera. During a time of emotional stress in the heat of battle they awaken the one comma Sharingan, two comma,.... and so on and so forth. That's how they get their design. Other than what I know, the design could be from the SO6P son.
