Two Worlds, Chapter Two: Nirvana
The sound of Johnny’s voice was robotic, even more strange was that there was 3 voices echoing out from the giant space that Johnny had created on his face. With his mouth wide open, he reached out and grabbed the woman by her arms; squeezing them as he took a deeper look into her armor. She felt like her bare arms were being exposed to the brutal cold of the winter. Her breathing became heavy as she tried the best she could to wiggle free of the prison that Johnny had mindlessly put her into, but could not escape his iron grip.
As he looked into his reflection, Johnny saw two glowing blue lights staring back at him; these lights were resting in a black dome of metal. There were no facial features on this dome, just a wide hole from what Johnny could see. Once he started closing his mouth, the left and right side of his jaw came together like a double door to complete the bottom half of his face, shutting the hole. The element known as metal had consumed his entire body, a robot from head to toe, wrapped in a beautiful black blanket, the color of which is much darker than those lonely nights he dreaded. His body frame still similar to that of a human’s, and his height was the size of an average adult.
“What’s happened to me?!” Johnny yelled out in three voices while jolting the woman, one sounded as if he was speaking from within the ocean, the other deeper still; and the last must have been speaking from the bottom of that sea. They all came together to produce a sound that made the woman’s insides twist and turn. Johnny’s eyes grew brighter, the fear of not knowing where he was, what he has become, and what is becoming of him was taking over his sanity. She stood frightened looking into those blue headlights; it now felt like tornadoes were inside her, twisting her insides into oblivion. Suddenly, a shockwave that rocked the foundation on which they was standing snapped Johnny back into his senses. Johnny gave the woman back her freedom, looking to his left to see what was shattering the sound barrier into pieces. To his surprise were jets the size of cars, decorated in blue. Johnny could tell they meant business, there was seven of them, flying in triangle formation with their guns being displayed.
The sound barrier being torn apart struck fear into Johnny as fast as lightning, and made him feel more intimidated. The closer they got, the further away Johnny wanted to be. They were now closing in; Johnny began to panic, his head moved left to right, up and down, as thoughts of running flooded his mind. His leg took a step backward on its own. “Angel” The woman said, “My name is Angel.” Johnny looked at Angel, who was focused on the enemies ahead. Never have he seen such a fearless face. He watched as her hair blew like the beautiful leaves of autumn being carried away by the wind, revealing her face in its full beauty like a perfectly bloomed flower. If only for a minute, Johnny had forgotten about the approaching danger, as the beauty of this woman took away his fears. The sound of bullets hitting the ground awoke Johnny from his daydream; the fear that was gone just a few seconds ago was hunting him once again.
As Johnny was turning around to head in the opposite direction, the wings of Angel spread out like a hawk ready to take flight. He looked back at her as he was running away, never has he seen something disappear from sight the way Angel did. In her absence was dust and debris, being blown by the huge gust of wind she created with her take off. Johnny stopped in his tracks and slid, nearly falling before regaining his balance. His eyes started exploring all of what he could see of the sky, while searching it; an object landed in his chest. The next few seconds was the scariest moment Johnny ever experienced, he felt this entity plunge deeper into his chest, as his gaze was still fixed upon the sky. His arms began rising, his feet became separated from the ground, and his sight quickly shifted from the heavens to the missile planted in his upper body. Within a matter of seconds, he was engulfed in a huge blast.
As the jets were approaching the giant ball of flames, a huge sound rocked the air, as a fierce water explosion devoured Johnny’s own little hell. The jets ceased movement, hovering while assessing the situation. Johnny’s metal body was wet from head to toe, he was hunched over with his hands resting on his thighs and panting heavily. “What just happened?” Johnny asked, changing his view from the ground to his foes. All seven jets resumed their assault, charging forward at Johnny. Both sides of Johnny’s shoulders slid open, two mini rocket launchers took their place beside Johnny’s head. The rockets screeched as they flew from Johnny’s shoulder, leaving behind smoke and feeling the air with a burnt aroma as they made their way to the targets. One of the jets managed to dodge; the second took a direct hit, creating a bang as pieces of it nearly hit its own allies.
After escaping the blast, the jets scattered about, circling Johnny from all directions. A hole no bigger than the point on a pencil appeared on Johnny’s forehead, a blue light lit up that hole, and displayed a HUD before Johnny’s eyes showing the location of the jets. The rocket launchers wasted no time, and their coordination was beautiful, never firing in the same direction simultaneously. Their shooting was magnificent, hitting the jets dead-on, making a firework show out of the flying pests. More jets were approaching, and suddenly the battle was turned into a warzone. On Johnny’s HUD appeared thirty jets, as they quickly realized their bullets were having no effect on his impeccable body, they switched their tactics to missiles only. Johnny started running, trying to dodge the missiles best he can. A huge part of one of the jets missed Johnny by inches, he looked up in the air to see Angel using her wings to create sharp slashes of wind power that were cutting through the jets with ease. *Run in that direction!” Angel shouted while pointing ahead, “I’ll catch up soon.” Johnny wasted no time, but still looked back to see how she was fairing against them.
They looked helpless trying to fight against Angel, try as they might; their missiles were being derailed by mighty currents of wind her wings were creating. They only seemed to be aiding in their own destruction; getting annihilated by their own weapons. Angel was cleverly using her speed that even the mini size jets couldn’t keep up with. She was instantly vanishing out of sight, reappearing to send them down to earth in pieces with her ferocious blades of wind.
It was hard for him to make it out of that chaos, the pieces of metal that was raining down from Angel’s position was hard to dodge. As he was trying to get away, the wing of a jet landed inches in front of him, causing him to fall on his back. He then saw another shard bearing down on him; he rolled to his left, barely making it. After he rose to his feet, he ran as quickly as he could while watching the sky and dodging when necessary until the sounds of war couldn’t be heard.
Johnny was exhausted from the unbelievable events that have happened to him in a single night; he stopped and took a rest by a light post. Its light shone down on Johnny, as he sat there looking lonely. He bent his legs so that his knees were in the air and rested his arms upon them, and let his thoughts carry him away. He passed some time by thinking about the adventures he recently experienced. The mayhem he escaped earlier entered into his thoughts, as he slowly drifted to thinking about Angel. Many events of that night started flooding his mind.
A certain sound startled him; he looked over quickly only to see his missile launchers descending back into what he carried so much pain on. The blue light above his head faded out, and the hole disappeared. He grabbed his right shoulder with his left hand. “Oh.” Is all he said, that sound was familiar to him. It reminded him of sitting in the backseat of his parent’s car, clicking the switch to raise the windows up and down out of boredom. The sound of those windows rising up and down was the thing only he could hear at the moment. “Family.” He mumbled, “I have none.” He then clinched his shoulder as depression began to fill in his cold steel shell. “Don’t worry.” A voice said, he quickly turned to see who it was.
“Angel!” Johnny yelled, “So you’re glad to see me huh?” Angel said as she leaned down to Johnny with her hands resting on her thighs, eyes just as bright and wide as ever. “Well uh” Johnny muttered, looking back down at the ground out of embarrassment. “Awe, even though you’re cold on the outside, you’re the complete opposite on the inside” She said as she hugged him around his neck. “Don’t worry; you can leave the pain of the other world behind when you come here.” She said as she gave him a wink.
“Other world?” Johnny said as he took a moment to observe his surroundings. He noticed the buildings piercing the darkness of the heavens, shining bright, like glorious beacons of light. Tiny lit-up objects covered the night sky, the speed at which they traveled made them seem like thousands of falling stars. The streets were beautifully paved and clean, not a single piece of trash littered the streets. “Will I ever get back?” Johnny asked, “Yes, when the sun rises in the other—“Angel was cut off short by the sudden rumble in the ground, as it then exploded like fireworks, arising from that destruction was a twelve feet behemoth. It roared as if it was trying to shatter everything around it with its monstrous voice alone. Johnny pictured himself being turned into scrap metal by its razor sharp teeth. Angel looked into those snake-eyes of his that told her, he would love to devour her between his claws that seemed like mountains. Its entire body encased in green scales, with wings on it that flapped; creating surges of wind. This monster was standing on all fours, with its eyes fixed on its prey. “A-A dragon?! Johnny yelled out, “What is this place?! He screamed looking over at Angel. To his surprise, she had her mouth covered with her right hand, and was giggling. “Welcome to Nirvana.”
