DICE confirms: No Battlefield 4 on Wii U
We first wrote about why Battlefield 4 on Wii U is highly unlikely weeks ago, and now developer DICE has confirmed that the upcoming shooter won’t see release on Nintendo’s new console. Back in 2011 when the Wii U was unveiled at E3, DICE developers said that they “definitely see potential in the Wii U”. Reportedly, BF3 was in development on the console before EA scrapped the project and focused fully on Battlefield 4.

In an interview with Videogamer, Battlefield 4 creative director Lars Gustavsson said that the game is skipping the Wii U because the developer doesn’t want to “stretch ourselves too thin”. He added that DICE would rather “play it safe” when it comes to Battlefield 4 on new and exotic platforms such as the Wii U.

Battlefield 4 has been confirmed on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s unknown if the game will be coming to the next-gen system such as the PlayStation 4. The PS4 hardware is similar to the PC, which means it wouldn’t be that difficult to port the game to the console. Maybe EA’s waiting until E3 to unveil Battlefield 4 on next-gen systems, because it seems like a no-brainer to us.

To say that Nintendo’s Wii U console has been struggling is an understatement. The console isn’t selling well, and to make thing worse, major publishers are ignoring it. We can now add one more game to the list of high-profile titles that will skip the Wii U: EA and DICE’s Battlefield 4.
Battlefield 4 “Drone Strike Expansion Pack” revealed
When EA opened the floodgates to the Battlefield 4 pre-order on Origin, they revealed an interesting pre-order incentive: access to the very first Battlefield 4 DLC (or expansion pack, as they call it). On Origin it’s called “Premium Expansion Pack”, but now we’ve got some more details on what exactly it is.

According to a Battlefield 4 promotional poster at a local retailer, the DLC is called “Drone Strike expansion pack”, and will be available to all pre-orders. The poster was spotted by AllGamesBeta, who also revealed the real-world dog tags that some Battlefield 4 pre-orders will include.

This is similar to the offering EA had for BF3, where all pre-orders got access to the Back To Karkand DLC. It featured 4 maps remade from BF2, new weapons, vehicles, and more. It’ll be interesting to see what this Battlefield 4 expansion might include. Obviously, as the name suggests, it’s got something to do with drones…
