Minato could've defeated Pain by himself. Tsunade couldn't touch Pain on her own regardless of her healing everyone. There probably would've been similar casualty levels, but Minato would've killed Pain. You have to think that Kakashi came up with a plan that nearly destroyed Deva Path Pain so Minato would've annihilated the whole group.

From the small amount we've seen on Minato his analytical abilities are far better than nearly everyone else we've seen with the exceptions of Madara, Shikaku, and Shikamaru. Plus Minato is far more capable in battle due to his quick reflexes and Flying Thunder God. Think about it, if Deva Pain hits Minato with Shinra Tensei or Chibaku Tensei he merely teleports away with Flying Thunder God and the instant he can attack he teleports back. Neither Tsunade or Kakashi could manage that. We saw Minato figure out how to take down Madara in the middle of battle with him throwing the FTG kunai at his head and teleporting to it, hitting him with rasengan, and marking him with the FTG marking.

but remember that kakashi always uses a clone on till he know his enemy's power
for instance when he was fighting pain he use the lighten clone and found out pains ability plus naruto said he's smarter than shikamaru and faster than guy

Tsunade did a great job keeping everyone alive, and protecting them when Pain used his Almighty Push, but I think Minato would have been able to go on the offensive and prevent that... just my opinion
