Both of them can simply "not be hit by Haki"...

As seen here:

This changes everything!
For a start, people can pipe down about Vista and Marco not being Haki users (yeah... some people think they aren't)

It also gives us a glimpse into the potential of Logia's, and that they're still (potentially) OP even now, if the user is skilful enough

This also brings Sakazuki and his fanboys down a peg or two :coffee:

The thing is, we never saw Luffy use CoA against Trebol. It COULD be a translation error, the page before that shows him throwing a regular punch:

Trebol was simply overflowing himself with his goo. It's not part of his body. If Luffy's punched had connected with Trebol's actual body, Trebol would have been shat on.
Akainu simply had better haki.

Not all COA is coloured. His armed fists were not visible as they already passed through trebol in the panel we see Luffy strike.

It could be a translation error, but it's quite hard to mess up a translation about Haki... I think a translator would know not to f*ck up there

Basically, Luffy is stupid enough to attack a logia without haki. Is that what you are implying here?

He had his entir body covered in his goo, this seems to suggest that treble isn't a logia type
He was sliced in half by Usopp's shuriken, he's definitely a Logia.

Luffy was using invisible Haki. The reason it didn't hurt Trebol was because Luffy never hit his actual body. It's so thin under than large, wide coat that Luffy thinks he's hitting his body when his fight are flying right past it.

Let's say this: O, is Trebol's body
\ is the ends of Trebol's coat
| is Luffy's arms
L is Luffy.

It's basically this

\ | O | \
| |
| |
| |
L

this trebol fooled luffy to think he is a fat old man but 80% of him was his snot coat if luffy`s hits were well placed he would have damged him

Nope, I was implying it was a translation error if anything.

But post-TS it is. Why would Oda have some scenes with colored CoA and others with invisible post-TS? That'd just be inconsistent.

@Bold
That makes sense and it's probable.

Mistakes happen.

It is inconsistent... but you never see Zoro's against Pica or Monet, you don't see Luffy's when he punches a Pacifista (Sentomaru confirmed he used Haki)... We've also not seen Sanji and Law's Haki turn black yet... and considering they were both commended to be of the only four people in the alliance that could fight Caesar; it's obvious they both have it too

We've seen Zoro use CoA against Pica, with Monet it was just a flying slash. Sentomaru example is true but why would Oda do that? I mean it's not a hard thing to miss, especially something that requires a visual representation.

It's the same thing with sanji kicking tht muddy logia back in the beginning of timeskip that was invisible haki cuz it still effected the guy
Yeah!

I reckon colour shows the degree of strength, if they maxed it out then it'll go black... tends to only become black when a character is pissed... and as it's linked heavily with emotion that does make sense

Its completely different, all the thing around trebol was just mucus that's why luffy couldnt hit him even with haki, but then again smoker was hit my vergo even though smoker spread his smoke bigger then the volume of his body and he still got hit, so there is definitely a trick to this but I'm guessing he is a paramecia here, probably a paramecia that can produce mucus or something and just wrapped it around his body, but its definitely different from Akainu.
