Very well then. Since both of these are very similar, can you tell me what is their main problem? Or rather, disadvantage.

The main problem that I see with these jutsu is that after I release the ball or horn of lightning , I have no control over what path they take. This means that if my opponent reacts quickly, they can move out of my line of fire and might avoid damage all together. Other than that, they are both ineffective if my opponent is in long range positioning.

Good one but not what I was aiming for. Also, your opponent can't simply move out of the line of fire, he has to use a technique to do that. What I was aiming for is that they're all released from your hands and they require you to maintain them for a very short period of time before releasing them. This gives your opponent, depending on his skill, a chance to materialize water around you and use the lightning against you.

Description: The user will take out two large shuriken or Windmill Shuriken and channel their raiton chakra into them. They will then throw them at their target to pin them down and maintain a connection with the shuriken through a electrical cable that delivers a numbing shock to paralyse the target and restrict their movements.
Note: Numbing Effect lasts for one turn.

Simple, you take out two shuriken and you channel them with lightning. We've seen many times in the anime and manga that you can infuse weapons but usually it was wind to increase its speed and cutting power. However, these are special. They have a string attached through which you channel a current that is supposed to paralyze your opponent, so it's a good move when you need the upper hand against your opponent. Once paralyzed you have a multitude of options to finish him and the only limit is your imagination.

Same as previous but this one is advanced. You require a chidori to perform it. And chidori is only part of the last group of jutsus so you won't be able to use this one until we're finished. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to show it and explain since they're re-grouped for the purpose of this kind of training.

One after the other, Hiei throws the shuriken at a nearby Oak tree. The first one released slices through one of the main branches at the bottom of the tree. The other one digs deep into the trunk of the tree.

This is where the cable comes in handy. Now all I have to do is pump lightning chakra into this, and my opponent is finished.

The area of the tree around the shuriken begins to get darker, until black. Soon after smoke starts to form.

But if you pump too much lightning chakra into your opponent, you will fry them.

Yes, that is the technique and you are correct, however, I think I can go a bit deeper into detail. Handseals are required for molding chakra which comes down to "gathering". As you proceed with ranks you become more skilled (both jutsu and ninja ranks). The more skilled you are the easier you perform certain techniques which translates into being possible to perform an element of choice with a single handseal. It's a perk that Caliburn allowed members to have. He also allowed a second element that you can perform with ease.

The thing with Sasuke, he turned from Genin into Jounin or even Sannin by now, since we don't know. This shows that he can manipulate chakra easier, mold it faster and that he doesn't require the handseals for the process anymore, thus his handseal-less chidori.

So to my other question: the previous ones didn't require handseals because they were much simpler and required less chakra. Their core is simple, an electric discharge, while this one also has the "condensed" discs which require a lot of chakra. Condensing chakra into a material state, especially for an element like lightning is key. Of course it's not material but it certainly looks like it. Even so, it can cut through stuff better than a discharge or a bolt.

After you complete a certain element. You can choose one though. So if you were to complete your element of choice last then it would take more time than someone who chose it for his first element. I hope you get the point.

Believe it or not you have finished your first method. Now the second.

The techniques in this next method all adhere to constant waves or currents of lightning, meaning you're constantly placing chakra into the technique as opposed to projectiles where you gather all your chakra and then release it all in one/several condensed shots. This is where the element gets into the real conductive nature of Lightning. In gathering your chakra for these techniques you will start like you would any other technique, you gather the fixed amount of chakra in the point of release. However, instead of releasing it in a confined condensed projectile you release a constant flow of lightning from the point of release and, generally through a medium like the ground, a weapon, or an object. You will not be releasing your chakra all at once, it will be flowing out of you from the point of release in a steady manor until the chakra you've built up for the technique is gone. Since you're focusing less on condensing the chakra and more on spreading it out to cover a wider range, this takes away from force and piercing ability and you get more of the electrocution properties. The techniques in this method are more so designed to have that stunning and overloading the body with lightning.

Advantages of Method

Unlike projectiles, currents remain within the control of the user rather the all control of it being lost on release. Due to them being a continuous expulsion of chakra, the user maintains control of the technique throughout its entire use. Since the user maintains this control it enables Raiton to be used much more for defensive and supplementary reasons, rather than offense alone which is usually the initial misconception. The user following their chakra allows for them to construct armours, enhance weapons and use raiton directly from their body to electrocute anyone in the immediate vicinity of the user.

Continuous expulsion of chakra allows for techniques to last far longer than projectiles since the total amount of released Raiton chakra has to equal to that of the technique's rank (Credits to Negative Knight).

Disadvantages of Method

Another glaring disadvantage is, whilst using the jutsu, due to it requiring a continuous release of chakra, a new technique can't be used until the 1st is finished. This becomes a problem for weapon enhancing jutsu, which will cease to be useful the moment the chakra flow to the weapon is removed to perform another jutus.

The final disadvantage to this method would have to be, that to flow a current, most jutsu require a medium of some sort. Flowing a current would need the user to use the ground as a way of conducting it, Nagashi requires a continuous release from the user's body and Wave of inspiration requires a body of water to be conducted along (Negative Knight)


Can you name some mediums that would be excellent for these kind of techniques?

One good medium for a continuous electric attack would the the ground. This is because electricity can travel through the ground and shock an opponent through their feet, or it can also be used to neutralize a Earth technique that uses the ground as a source.

Another good medium would be any kind of water source. This is because of water's natural ability to conduct electricity, which leads in a power boost to the lightning jutsu. Since water is countered by Earth, this would be all the more reason to use water and lightning together.

The air itself can also be used as a medium. You can use the air to form a sort of force field made out of electricity, to help you against Taijutsu, and most short range techniques.

The last medium that I could think of would be a human body. If I could get my hands on an opponent, and pump them full of lightning chakra, it could be bad. This is because the human body is composed of 75% water, and less electricity gets lost through travel.
