I don't know about that. >_>

Anyway, switching bios....

Before Souji can cast the genjutsu, a cloud of smoke envelops Rex and out of it emerges Ludger Kresnik, who will be taking Rex's place for this exercise. Once the genjutsu is casted, Ludger does what Souji commanded and starts to run towards him. He is surprised upon noticing that as he ran, he wasn't able to close distances and reach his Sensei. He tries to run faster but, yet again he wasn't able to get any closer to his Sensei. It seemed like no matter how much faster he ran, the distance between himself and Souji remained unchanged. He was confused, he didn't know what was happening, and wonders if his Sensei was playing a trick on him.

*panting*

Seeing a new student take Rex's place, Souji stops Ludger as he's running around in circles and performs the Genjutsu Kai, releasing him from the illusion.

"Hello! Welcome back! You must be Rex's friend, so we'll just continue and you can tell him what you've learned."

Instead of casting the illusion on Ludger, Souji instead shows him the next jutsu written on a scroll:

( Genjutsu: Jinmon ) - Illusion Technique: Interrogation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.

"This is a relatively useless jutsu in fights but can be useful in certain scenarios such as espionage. Do you have any questions about it?"

Ludger receives the scrolls from Souji and looks at its contents. He realizes that he could use this jutsu to affect a Jounin at best, given his current rank. He could see what his Sensei meant about it being useful. Nowadays, Shinobi don't let anything get close them especially when it came to taijutsu so it would be hard to use this. He thinks this would work best once the target was in a weakened state and then be used to extract Intel from the target. Once his Sensei asks if he had any questions, Ludger would give a simple response to him.

No....

Ludger was a little different from Rex. He seemed quieter, more inquisitive.

"Hm. Good!" he clapped his hands together.

"The next illusion is very easy. You mess with your opponent's visual perception to make them see a fireball descending from the sky when it actually isn't there."

"For this technique, tell me how you'd use it in a combination to defeat your opponent without them actually knowing or anticipating a follow-up jutsu."

( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.

Listening to his Sensei, Ludger proceeds to explain his plan in using this genjutsu with his other techniques. He tells Souji that he would prepare a shadow clone before hand and that after he counters the enemy attack, he would then perform the a fire jutsu that allows to fire up to 8 fireballs into the sky and have then rain down on his opponent. Now at the same time that this happens, his clone would cast the illusion since the enemy would be focusing his attention at the sky and thus not notice the clone weave the signs and place under the illusion. His clone would do this and make it appear that there was an extra fireball the enemy failed to counter. After explaining, Ludger responds to Sensei to see if the plan is good enough to employ.

What do you think?...

(Katon: Gōkakyū Hitoame no Jutsu)Fire Release: Great Fireball Shower
Type: Offensive
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 40
Damage: 80
Description:
Kneading his chakra and then converting it to fire, the user will do the Horse → Tiger → Snake → Ram hand seals as he inhales, exhaling into the sky a multitude of great fireballs (up to 8) at the same time which then rain down on the target from above causing severe, widespread damage around the field. These fireballs have explosive and concussive abilities, similar to other fire techniques.

( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15

Souji breaks out of the illusion, because Plot no Jutsu ._.

"I like that. You cover the illusive fireball with actual fireballs. It makes it harder for the opponent to reason out of it. Good thinking! It's all about attempting to create 'no win' scenarios for them, where they can't break out without some form of metagaming."

"Last C-rank! Check it out and explain how it works to me, and ask questions if you have any."

Souji unravels the C-rank scroll and shows it to Ludger.

( Genjutsu: Kasumi no Jutsu ) - Illusion Technique: Mist Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.

Upon receiving the scroll, Ludger reads it carefully before explaining it to his Sensei. He goes on and says that the user starts by injecting his chakra into his opponents brain. He isn't entirely sure what the hand-seals are so he decides to performs it with the ram hand-seal. He would then say that he would create an illusionary clone that can't physically interact with the enemy nor can it cause actual damage, and have it charge towards the enemy before jumping upward and then explode into a cloud of cherry blossoms. The blossoms would obscure the enemies vision, making it hard for them to see him clearly. After that, he would follow up with an attack to finish them but, he would be cautious about it and keep his distance. As he doesn't know how quick or what sort of method the enemy might use to free himself. After this he responds by saying No questions.

"Now, the first B-rank is essentially the double layering version of the first D-rank technique, False Surroundings. When your opponent dispels one, the other takes effect. Each individual layer has a C-rank strength. Normal releases can dispel one layer, but with enough pain, you can dispel both."

"Quite simple, but do you have any questions about this one?"

(Magen: Nijū Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu) Demonic Illusion: Double False Surroundings Technique
Type: Supplmentary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description:
The user will do a sequence of 3 handseals, putting his opponents under a double layered Genjutsu. The user is able to create false surroundings to fool his targets, much like the simpler version of the technique. However, the illusion is in fact layered. If the opponent manages to release the first one, he will then feel the effects of the second illusion. If, for example, the first illusion is that of a desert and the second that of a forest, upon releasing the first one, the opponent will see the desert fade away while the forest appears around him, making him think he dispelled the illusion while in essence he is still caught in one. Each illusion is equivalent to C-Rank and both are casted at the same time. While normal releases will release only one illusion at a time, a strong enough pain or an external source of chakra can dispel both at the same time.

After reading up on the double false surrounding technique, Ludger smiles and found the technique quite interesting. He then turns to Souji and tells him that he has no questions and that he is ready to move on.

"Ok... how about this one? Use your sword and wave it back and forth, creating multiple illusory waving arms that are swinging swords. This is mainly just to catch an enemy off guard... it's easy to discern that you're in a gen for this one. Not anything special, in my opinion."

"What do you think about it, Ludger?"

( Konoha-Ryū: Yanagi ) - Leaf Ninja Art: Willow
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 35
Description: The user waves their sword back and forth, which when seen by the target locks them in a genjutsu which causes them to hallucinate multiple waving arms. The movement resembles that of a willow tree blowing in the wind. With the enemy off guard, the user is free to cut them down.

Its also Kenjutsu right?... After saying this, Ludger unsheathes his sword from scabbard and tries it on an unsuspecting bandit who was watching but, attempted to flee. Landing in front of the bandit five meters away, Ludger waves his sword which is held in his left hand, back and forth while inserting his chakra into his opponent's brain. After he sees this, he would be locked in the illusion, making him see multiple arms with sword in hand, imitating the movements of a willow tree when blown by the wind. Once his guard was down, Ludger takes off and slashes the bandit's chest from left to right. He made sure not to kill him, only grazing him with the tip. Afterwards, he follows up with a spin kick, kicking off his left foot, and using his right leg, he raises and retracts it while spinning. Ludger then, kicks the bandit in the stomach with his right foot, sending him flying backwards. He looks on an at the injured and fearful man and lets him flee the scene.

"Hm. Didn't know there were bandits around here. Good work, Ludger. And it's not necessarily a kenjutsu classified technique, but you can use the sword to attack while your opponent is under the illusion, as you did."

Unraveling the scroll, Souji reads the next jutsu out loud:

( Genjutsu: Ingemame Ketsugō Sakkaku ) - Illusion Technique String Bean Binding Illusion
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: Similar to Illusion Technique: Tree Binding Death, the user will do the Dog → Hare → Snake → Ram hand seals and trigger an illusion where the user first disappears, while the target sees several bean vines growing from the ground around and beneath him. These vines bind the target body, lifting them into the air. Then a bean pod rises from the ground to reveal the user, ready to strike. In reality, the opponent is immobilized by the illusion, allowing the user to strike.

"Questions here?"

Ludger was surprised that Souji wasn't aware of the increase in bandit activity but, he forgets about that for the moment and focuses on the training. After listening to Souji reading out loud the contents of the scroll, Ludger simply replies saying Those the hand-seals? and no, no questions.

The bandits stalk the training session between the two shinobi, too afraid to confront either of them directly knowing they'd get fodderized U_U

"Now, here's an important concept in trying to break genjutsus. You know that when an illusion changes your surroundings or affects your perception and sight, one of the ways to break out of them is to see if

"For example, let me cast this next illusion on you. A flower bud will surround you and explode... but break it with the appropriate level of pain before it does so. You need to reason it out... but try figuring out it's an illusion not simply because it's weird or out of place... but this time, try using your other senses. Can you smell the flower bud? Can you feel a certain texture? Or is it all superficial and an illusion?"

Souji traps Ludger in the next technique (read below) and waits to see the results.

( Magen: Hanarasui ) - Demonic Illusion: Flower Head Death
Rank: B
Type: Offensive/Supplementary
Range: Short- Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40 due to stress on the mind
Description: The user will trap the target within an illusion where the opponent appears to be trapped in a large flower bud which then explodes. The opponent is made to believe that an explosion actually occurred and collapses, believing himself to be injured. The resulting stress on his mind causes damage.

To be honest, I'm actually tired of always hurting myself to break out of an illusion. I'm running out of bandages to patch myself up so...=_="

After being placed in the illusion, Ludger starts to look around. He notices the many large flower buds scattered throughout the field especially the one he is standing on. Everything is pitch black like an abyss and Ludger couldn't see a thing. He couldn't hear anything so he tried his remaining senses which are his smell, taste, and touch. He tried the easiest one since he couldn't really smell anything other than the fresh air around him and he wasn't about to go and eat flowers. <_>
Touching the petal behind him, on his right, Ludger tries to rub it with his index finger and thumb together using his right hand, he was surprised that he couldn't touch it upon noticing his fingers/hand going through the 'petal'. This must be the reason, Ludger thought to himself. Quickly weaving a hand-seal as he sees the bud close up on him, Ludger knows he doesn't have much time. He dispels the illusion by disturbing his chakra flow, stopping the flow momentarily and then, spiking it up.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

"I'm sorry for making you constantly break out of these illusions, Ludger. Here's the rest of the B-rank techniques. Read them over, give me your opinion on each of them, and if you have questions, ask. Let's take a break from practicing so that we don't kill ourselves trying to break out of illusions. HA!"

( Magen: Jubaku Satsu ) - Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, and appears to dissolve into a mist. Once they stealthily approach the target and get within short-range, the opponent feels completely immobilized, and believes they have been bound by a fast-growing tree and are unable to move. The user then appears as if they emerge from the tree to attack the target. In reality, the target is immobilized, allowing the user to strike or interrogate them.

( Genjutsu: Oshitsubusu Hebi Kubire ) - Illusion Technique: Crushing Snake Constriction
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user puts the opponent into a genjutsu which has snakes appear beneath the opponent to constrict them and with the users command, they crush the opponent. In reality, the opponent is immobilized and takes damage due to the stress on his mind.

( Genjutsu: Hanaoka ) - Illusion Technique: Flower Hill
Rank: B
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user summons up illusionary purple flowers from the ground in front of them, damaging enemies with a chance to paralyze them.
Note: Paralysis lasts one turn.

You were in one too Sensei? :what: Ludger says, as he is surprised by what Souji said. His Sensei never ceases to amaze him but, he quickly gets it together. Moving on to the last three scrolls, he gives his input. The first one is pretty good but, the hand-seals are kind of annoying. I'd have to use it in the beginning so that I'm not interrupted by the enemy later on in a fight. For the second, I like it. I can combo it with another attack and I don't have to get close to use it and put myself at risk. For the third, seems pretty hard to escape and kai can't seem to be used here since you can't move. How does this one cause damage exactly? I'm a bit confused...

"Damage from a genjutsu can typically be attributed to physical, real damage as a side effect to falling under an illusion. For example, this one causes paralysis, which can hurt someone trying to break free of it or if they try to move."

"Finally, let's go over the A-ranks. The first one here is where you form one handseal and place an opponent in a genjutsu wherein you toss explosive tags around them. The illusion will cause the opponent to instead see butterflies and sink downward, but are in actuality, unable to move. To finish them off, put an explosive tag on their forehead, before causing a large chain explosion."

"What're your thoughts?"

( Magen: Chō Shinka ) - Demonic Illusion: Butterfly Evolution
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user makes one handseal, placing the opponent in a genjutsu. The user then tosses a large number of explosive tags at the opponent. To the opponent, it looks as if they are countless butterflies. The opponent then believes they are sinking into the ground, in reality making them immobilized; this allows the user to place one final exploding tag on their forehead before detonating all the tags simultaneously.

My only thought is, if I have to place the final tag on their forehead, I'm gonna have to run like hell before they go off right? jk jk xD says Ludger before asking the real question. So what's the range of the explosion, just around the enemy, up to a five meter radius?

"Heh... just because you place the explosive tag on their forehead doesn't mean you have to get up close to them. You could throw the tag at their forehead, or use a tag attached to the kunai. Some jutsus are left up to interpretation and discretion."

"... and the explosion is about short range radius from the user, so you were right!"

Souji revealed the last two A-rank techniques on the scroll of knowledge.

"These are the last two standard genjutsu techniques I can present to you. I want you to examine how each of them works, what senses they affect, and if you can, find a visual depiction of when it was used in a battle."

( Nehan Shōja no Jutsu ) - Temple of Nirvana Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, placing all the targets in the area under an illusion where feathers appear to fall from the sky. This slowly puts the opponents to sleep after one turn.

( Kokuangyo no Jutsu ) - Bringer-of-Darkness Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, causing the opponent to believe they have been trapped in a world of infinite darkness, where their sense of sight is useless. It is capable of affecting multiple targets within range. However, it does not negate their other senses.
