You're logic is very flawed. Minato and Itachi are very much the same in that regard. Minato killed 1000s in war in order to save 1000s of Konoha citizens. Itachi killed his clan because they were going out either way, but also to prevent a war from occuring and saved 1000s that way. That's just Kishi's writing.
