1: Ju-On (It's scare the living shit out of you
)2: The Exorcist (that's some old style Horror movie, they really knew how to get it done)
3: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (watch the original. It's deeply disturbing when you really stop to think about the background of this movie).
4: The Silence of the Lambs (it may not be the scariest out there, but Hannibal Lecter is by far the scrariest psychopath out there because he's realistic)
5: Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, nuff said).

It depends on what you find scary, For Me i like horror movies that make me jump
The urban legends first movie is good for that and keeps you guessing who the killer is.
Not necessarily the scariest but still good.
