You cannot counter the manga. It would be different if Sasori said it, but Deidara himself admitted inferiority.

Sasori can fly via iron sand (not a feat but it's confirmed). Sasori's poison oneshots deidara, & since they are partners then that means they both know each others abilities. Sasori would be a greater threat with that info rather than deidara who is known to not be the brightest tool in the shed .

While Deidara makes C2 dragon, Sasori can get out the Kazekage. Since they have info on eachother, this helps Sasori a lot.

Sasori is stronger than Deidara. He's immune to C4 Karura because he isn't breathing, also he can poison Deidara whenever he wants and it will be all over. Deidara's only chance on defeating (killing) Sasori will be C0, but it will lead to his death too.

Deidara was just a perfect matchup for gaara, & he used that advantage to subdue him.

Deidara has more intelligence feats because he has been in more fights, sasori has much more experience than deidara who was young & extremely cocky (got obliterated by itachi).
