Top 4 biggest asspulls in the manga

4. Naruto beating Neji- Naruto got bodied in this fight, had all of his tenketsu's shut down and landed one attack on Neji (an uppercut) in the whole fight and it left him out for the count. Fast forward a few chapters later and Neji's getting impaled by arrows and he's still standing. Heck, he even managed to defeat Kidomaru after all that and he was WAY beyond Naruto's level at the time.

3. Obito- Yeah I said it, Obito. Everything about this guy was an asspull, he went from dropout to invincible by virtue of gaining one ms tech. This said ms tech not only allowed him to body 95% of the Narutoverse but it also allowed him to transcend death and give Kakashi another asspull in the form of DMS. His motive for turning evil was so weak in comparison to other villains in the series and he broke the absolute rule of not dying after losing his status as a jinchuriki.

2. Itachi's illness- The dude had the perfect offense, perfect defense, praised as invincible by Kaguya's will and this is how Kishi kills him? Alright. Moving on...

Madara getting trolled- Similar to Itachi, this guy was seemingly invincible and I remember a lot of fans wondering how Naruto and Sasuke were going to defeat him (even Kishi admitted in an interview that he didn't know how Madara could be defeated) and then Kaguya swoops in and takes over. So anti-climatic. By all rights Sasuke should have been the one to make him taste defeat, because of their connection as Uchihas and because Madara was responsible for so much of Sasuke's pain in his life. Not to mention that Hashirama gave Sasuke a jutsu specifically to counter Madara...

Definitely. I remember Kakashitards getting hyped thinking it was permanent lmao. That's why even though it was an asspull, I enjoyed how it trolled Kakashi fans too.

Imagine if you were starving, you're at death's door and all of a sudden a steak falls from the sky. You leap up and you thank God for this miracle, take a bite and the steak disappears. That's what happened to Kakashi and his fandom. They got a taste of the finest and then Kishi trolled and took it away. He cinderella'd Kakashi, basically.

Kurama did not share a connected chakra pool with naruto at this point allowing naruto to overcome the restriction since Kurama has more than enough to push through the tenketsu points.No matter how powerful neji's defense is his body is still juts flesh and blood.
He was not expecting the attack at all.Come one tell me neji's stamina as genin with a straight face that its strong enough to take a nine tails chakra uppercut at close range.

Keep in mind that it was also a battle of ideology with that single punch being accompanied after his speech it broke the actual expectations of the fight and neji's belief the one he lived by all his life.

The neji in the fight vs kidomaru was a completely different belief and reasons to fight.
He is always talking about how naruto put him on the path he is on now and if you want to get technical the first one naruto "saved"

Nejii had enough stamina as a genin to outlast Kidomaru in a fight where he took way more damage than he did in his fight against Naruto. The fact that I rate this as more of an asspull than the Naruto fart against Kiba says a lot.

3: The ease at which Obito had been turned from his hell-bent objective was shown as being really shallow in the manga. The anime is making it more believable.

2: I do want proper closure in how Itachi (as he stood as the solo-king) was susceptible to such an illness. Although I don't like Itachi being susceptible to an illness and dying by it, it is acceptable as in not being an asspull.

1: As Itachi is the solo-king, Madara is the solo-god and the takeover was pure asspull. I'm still bitter due to this :devil:

You will always find something that you don't like. Some things were explained rather hastily or seemed like bad writing decisions but it's Kishimoto's manga he can do what he want with it.

If I really had to name one thing that irks me it would be:

Itachi being "good":
The only real foreshadowing that vaguely pointed towards that was when Itachi left instead of fighting Jiraya during the Tsunade Return Arc. In context what he did to Sasuke though it doesn't make any sense for me. Torturing your lil brother 2 times for 72hours straight and telling him he has to kill his best friend to get the Mangekyo doesn't seem like something a good guy should do.

Madara had the best defeat in the manga, because he never got defeated. He was so badass that it took a possession of a stronger being to kill him. Pretty badass.

Itachi's doesn't bother me, Naruto's doesn't bother me. Obito's bothers me hella, bad choices by Kishi.
