I want to get into it, but I get confused every time I hear something about it. I also hear that it's basically a dark version of Danny Phantom

Can someone explain with moderate details the story?

Lol don't listen to the retard above , he doesn't even know part 2 already started.

Anyways :

The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who meets a woman named Rize Kamishiro at Anteiku, a coffee shop. They share an interest in literature and plan a date. While walking Rize home, Ken is attacked by her. Rize reveals that she is a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh. As she is about to finish him off, she is crushed by a falling platform. Kaneki is taken to the hospital in critical condition. The doctor decides to transplant Rize's organs into Ken. He then must deal with life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans.

Start with the anime, it is really good. Without much spoilers, i can tell you briefly about the story that There are ghouls/creatures that feed on humans in the world and the humans have made an organization to fight against them. There is no good side or bad side. Everyone has there reasons and there are scumbags on both sides (humans/Ghouls).
The main character is a newly turned ghoul and you can see that experience through his eyes as a transition from human to becoming a new ghoul.

This and the anime is crap compared to the manga. A lot of ppl who read the manga don't usually like the anime. imo it just spoils the manga.

This is a good summary, yet it still sounds like an average plot, right? Well, wrong. The manga is on a whole other level compared to at least Naruto. Tokyo Ghoul is Seinen. It's different from Shonen in the fact that it's targeted at older audiences - from 17 upwards. Shonen is primarily for the age group 10-17. As such, it's much more mature than Naruto. There's literally no friendship "nakama" stuff in it, which is a major plus for me personally.

However, the Manga is done exceptionally well. The hints, the character development, the art, the pacing - all amazing. I was skeptical at first, but man, i'm looking forward to TG chapters now much more than i am to Naruto.

Also, if you pick up the manga, make sure you at least watch the 12th episode of the anime, which is extremely well done.

Is Tokyo Ghoul the new AOT? Cause I swear, awhile back this section was full of AOT topics but now the attention seems to have directed to Tokyo Ghoul.

OT: Only thing I'll say is that it has crappy art/animation.

Or people with different taste in manga/anime?....

Yeah,I love it and I would reccommend reading it altho I did enjoy the anime aswell
Naw bro, so people are just hating just because, a difference in a opiniin is not stating that a manga you havent read is trash, or has bad art because your hating on the hype, its jugde something based on the quality of its content/message imo.

So the haters who no good reason to are indeed brain dead.

It's kind of a seinen manga, meaning it might be action-packed but the author also likes to put symbols and deeper meanings into his characters and the events. Story-telling wise it's great, Ishida uses various plot twists and foreshadowings which will take you by surprise. Art-wise it's not great in the beginning but it does improve steadily and now it's on a very good level.
Also, this manga not being a shounen means people die. Even major characters. Ishida shows mercy at the same rate Isayama from AoT does. There is some gore too, which is logical if you think that in the Tokyo Ghoul world there are ghouls which feed on humans, but it's nothing too extreme of shocking.

All in all, a great alternative to the popular mangas like One Piece, Naruto and the rest.

The anime didn't suck visually and I can say they did a fantastic job with the voice artists but the plot was butchered and there were so many censored scenes that overall it did suck.

Tokyo ghoul is overrated with a poor ending, terrible characters & sub par plot. Its really overrated, I dropped the series after a few episodes.

Very nice overview my friend my thoughts expecting but I now view the anime apart from the manga to help me better enjoy it as for the censorship, Im not to bother me to much but it is quite annoying
