Biggest disappointment ever. Don't read as its one of the best stories ever with only 176 chapters and a worse ending than Dexter.
Lol don't listen to the retard above , he doesn't even know part 2 already started.
Anyways :
The story follows Ken Kaneki, a college student who meets a woman named Rize Kamishiro at Anteiku, a coffee shop. They share an interest in literature and plan a date. While walking Rize home, Ken is attacked by her. Rize reveals that she is a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh. As she is about to finish him off, she is crushed by a falling platform. Kaneki is taken to the hospital in critical condition. The doctor decides to transplant Rize's organs into Ken. He then must deal with life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans.
This and the anime is crap compared to the manga. A lot of ppl who read the manga don't usually like the anime. imo it just spoils the manga.

TG is amazing only retards hate on it.
Or people with different taste in manga/anime?....
Yeah,I love it and I would reccommend reading it altho I did enjoy the anime aswell
Very nice overview my friend my thoughts expecting but I now view the anime apart from the manga to help me better enjoy it as for the censorship, Im not to bother me to much but it is quite annoyingIt's kind of a seinen manga, meaning it might be action-packed but the author also likes to put symbols and deeper meanings into his characters and the events. Story-telling wise it's great, Ishida uses various plot twists and foreshadowings which will take you by surprise. Art-wise it's not great in the beginning but it does improve steadily and now it's on a very good level.
Also, this manga not being a shounen means people die. Even major characters. Ishida shows mercy at the same rate Isayama from AoT does. There is some gore too, which is logical if you think that in the Tokyo Ghoul world there are ghouls which feed on humans, but it's nothing too extreme of shocking.
All in all, a great alternative to the popular mangas like One Piece, Naruto and the rest.
The anime didn't suck visually and I can say they did a fantastic job with the voice artists but the plot was butchered and there were so many censored scenes that overall it did suck.
