we are seeing the real kaneki right now and he's not going to die. he said he will sacrifice himself but at that time didn't know that ayato and co also planned to save hinami.
he's not anteiku kaneki nor a hide copy. ishida showed this kaneki way before the hide flashback to remind you.
the real kaneki cares for his dear friends but isn't the guy anymore who would think twice before killing for his goals, even if it is an evil person.

Well there is one and only way to see the true Kaneki, the Kaneki of the story before it even began; and that is through Hide's point of view when he reutrns.
