I'm not ready to jump on this Obito thing just yet. I'm still going with Izuna. Tobi went with the name Madara until Naruto and company found out about the real Madara. He called himself a nobody then and said he doesn't want to be anybody. He just cares about executing the plan. Should he accomplish his goal, his version of peace, the one who brought peace is Madara Uchiha. Izuna is carrying out this plan for his brother, while using his name.

In the anime, they show both sides of tobi's face, when he fought with konan. It seems perfectly intact like no damage except few wrinkles. Also they show both tobi arms perfectly intact in several occasions. So i dont know what you are talking about. Tobi probably knows kakashi and guy probably because he was once part of the village and has alot of knowledge, So i think obito dead theory.

There was a battle between Madara and Harishema (Tobi claims he was there and as old as Madara)
1st World War-
System of Ninja established and all Nations are established and there are hostilities between Nations. Harishema tried to make peace treaties with Tailed Beast but Failed and at some point 1st hokage dies due to unknown reasons. At this point we know that the Uchia started to feel unequal to the senju and the 2nd Hoakge made them the police force (wiki).
2nd World War-
First Shinobi World War ended with an armistice treaty, but also left the Five Great Shinobi Countries seriously wounded. The treaty led to a period of peace, but after about twenty years, the economic disparity between the countries had become a serious problem. The nations began to form actions, and under the pretext of expending fair rights, the countries started using military force to expand their territories. Thus, the gruesome Second Shinobi World War started. Conflicts between Konohagakure, led by the Third Hokage, Sunagakure, likely led by the Third Kazekage, Amegakure, led by Hanzō of the Salamander, and Iwagakure, presumably led by the Third Tsuchikage. Much of the battles happened in smaller countries(wiki)

Now why would the great Madara need help and why at this point? How should I know! LOL
There is no support that the manga gives us. But whatever the reason he was not strong enough after that point to activate the Rinnigan and he needed the extra hand.
So here it finally is Tobi is Nobody!
I think that Madara created Tobi using Ignazi and used his own chakara and what was left of Harishemia’s cells became the fluid like body. Meaning he is and is not Madara nor is he Harishema nor an offspring. He was created for the specific purpose of reviving Madara to full power. Heck Madara probably didn’t give him a name nor any type of love so this is why he is so disattached from the rest of the world.
Now why at this point? Well the two senju that fought him countless times are both dead and everybody in the leaf thinks he has died. However a “doppelganger” just randomly showing up would make things complicated and what better to hide then in the confusion of war.

Now, Up until this point we know Madara has survived by unknown means to have met and become knowledgeable about Nagato Uzumaki. It is at this point that I assume that Madara actually dies. Now the first mention of Tobi’s involvement came at this point.

It was during this period that Tobi/ Madara gave Nagato the Rinnigan ANY BODY PLEASE COMMENT!
Tobi is a very knowledgeable person, he could have easily gathered information about kakashi and Guy. Especially when you have zetsu on his side who gives him intels just about anyone. It doesnt mean tobi knows kakashi and Guy personally. I feel like if kishi decided to reveal tobi as obito, it would be too easy. It wouldnt be a mystery. Kishi seems a guy who makes things difficult, i dont think he would make tobi be so easy to figure out. So cant be obito in that sense

ok first he cant be from the leaf. because he didnt know anko. Anko should have being famous being one of the sennins student and around same age kakashi and guy
My guess it has something to do with Rin maybe?(not saying is her but maybe how she died had to do with how they meet him).
Or His Madara son and before he got old they were friends outside the village and something happen maybe rin was his GF and she died and he promise her peace that could explain how he know about them
and zetsu recording is stupid because if you record guy vs kisame he never say he cant remember faces and kakashi is never talking to much like naruto -_-

I have always though of Tobi of being some kind of creation, and after reading this I am convinced. At least until the manga shows us the truth. Great theory and nicely put.

Uh, you're ill-informed. When do we see both sides of Tobi's face? The anime AND Manga shadow the other side, and won't even show us the lower portion of the right side of his face. And how is Tobi's arm intact when it's made of Zetsu material?
We can't see his left side. We only even see the top right side, which is where Obito was crushed while the lower side that remains hidden by the mask, which remained intact on Obito.
We STILL cannot see the other side, and his arm sure doesn't look good to me. Also notice he wears bandages on his forehead for no reason.

Its more likely that tobi is madaras brother or rikudous older son. Its the only people that have access to the level of power and knowledge and then hate that tobi has shown. No one else fits the bill. He cant be a cration of someone else because creations look for reasons and ways to define themselves as individuals. Tobi is the exact opposite. He is shedding individuality and opting for complete uniformity. A clone or creation would never want that. He is pissed at the rest of humanity and wants to erase their sense of self. He has long denied his own self and even taken on the disuise of others,ie goofy tobi that joined akatsuki and more recently war bent madara. He is clearly neither. His psyche is strong but he is insane. Its clear as day.

tobi is undeniably sumone who knows him no matter enemy or friend he clearly says u dont remeber faces so whats the point.tobi also says many things that connect him to madara explain:when he says i fought the first hokaage to gain access to his ablilitys, okay then to top things off when kabuto revived madara beyond his prime and bragged of orochimara research of the sharigan being connected to the rinnegan and hw it was of his own doing madara says as clear as day u did not create this. they may b two of the same being. the only thing about that is tobis reaction to madara when kabuto showed him in that edo tensei priceless right he was shock look at the eye lol although it could have been b cuz he thought he was under control. hope ur stickin with me now this is the frosting on the cake didnt kabuto teach tobi the edo tensei technique and didnt madara free himself by doin the edo tensei madara talked as if he had sum experience with it and talked about the draw backs its really both ways i say he just may b but iam recking my brain trying to figure out how he knows guy and kakashi n whm he spoke to directly it may b obito who knows i cant wait but narutos goin to b a sage of six paths real soon of his own accord watch
