Has anyone mentioned that the closest we got to knowing Tobi's identity is the first moments in which he appeared before an awakening Sasuke? As soon as he took off his mask Itachi's amaterasu activated and we have never been presented with anything since then. For me, that is one of 'red flags', amongst many others, from with which we can conclude just who the **** is Tobi?????
I think, for me, that Tobi is Izuna. I used to think it was Obito, but Obito was such an insignificant character in the series as a whole the Kishi really wouldn't write him in as the all-ending-antagonist(that would be a big bummer). I can see how it might be Tobirama, I mean hell, the dude's name is Tobi, how more obvious of a clue could that be? But think about the small glimpses of Tobi's face that has been shown in the manga and they don't match up at all with Tobirama, only thing that does match up with him and Tobirama is the space-time ninjutsu.
Back to Izuna, I'm basing this simply off the rare glimpses of Tobi's face that have been shown thus far for now -- His eyes, the shape of them, the form of them, were always reminiscent of Madara's and in fact, almost identical to Izuna's. His hair, the shape of his head, and that rare silhouette we saw when he tried to show himself to Sasuke, all resemble, albeit vaguely, that of Izuna. Now let's factor in all the knowledge Tobi has shown thus far, of the villages, the inner-workings of Konoha, secrets etc. -- this would confirm that he's definitely someone from Madara's time or about the same time, maybe even before(who knows) point is Tobi's immense knowledge of the ninja world itself is another clue as to who he really is, and in the case of my opinion, adds more to the question as to whether or not he is Izuna.
And another thing, why didn't Kabuto make any mention of Izuna during the scenes where it was revealed he revived Madara. Or in the scenes where he's describing how Edo Tensei works and how you need the living tissue of the person(or whatever) to revive them, alluding the the failed ventures of people he might of revived, you think that Izuna would have at least come up once? It makes perfect sense for him to at least attempted it since Izuna was buried when he "died"? Let's reason that he wouldn't have interest in reviving him because he had no eyes, even then, remember that whole room filled with Uchiha's eyes that Tobi was shown in when he took Nagato's eyes back?
And what strikes me also as odd, is when Tobi mentions that Izuna had "willingly" gave his eyes to his brother Madara, sharing an oddly intimate and maybe even personal account of what happened because, heeeellllo, the bastard is Izuna!!
That's what I got so far, going to ponder for a bit then add more!
