"Tobi" did have long hair once, with a totally different mask. But then the Akatsuki "Tobi" has short hair. Sure, it doesn't mean anything, but still could be taken into consideration.

Another possibility is that Madara was once Tobi, then when Madara was close to death he somehow used Zetsu to clone himself and this "clone" took his place as Tobi. Tobi's goals would be to take Madara's eyes, find a new vessel for them and then hunt for the power of the 10 tails so that Madara could be revived by the Rinnegan's new vessel and host the juubi within himself. This would explain a lot of why Tobi changed so many times.

Just to point out that Tobi's hair reminds me a big deal of Yamato's who's a identical copy of the 1st Hokage. Maybe Tobi is a Madara clone in the body of the 1st Hokage.

I have a tobi theory just out of nowhere... You know how Orochimaru changes bodies with his ritual. Go back and look at a pic of Oro when sasuke first got to his lair and his face was wrapped. Put a mask over that and you have tobi. If zetsu is a clone of the first... Who was the person experimenting cloning him. Again thats Orochimaru.

It would be epic if it was izuna, but i think it's uchiha kagami in shisui's body !
and uchiha kagami is in some way related whit madara that's the reason he calls himself madara ! He just uses the name to draw attention... could uchiha kagami be the son of izuna ?? and he wants revenge for using his fathers eyes for the future of the uchiha clan(madara gets izuna's eyes )??
after madara's defeats against hashirama , kagami hold a grudge against the leaf and madara for using his fathers eyes and powers !
It's a very farfetched theory but it would be great !!!

Hmm I think its more likely that the real Madara lived until recently. If Madara knew Nagato and if Itachi was so certain that Tobi was Madara, then perhaps the long haired Tobi was actually Madara while the short haired Tobi was Tobi all along.

What I'm saying is that if the long and short haired Tobi's were in fact two different people, than the long haired one would have to be the real Madara. I mean we know for certain that Madara lived until at least 30 years ago, but perhaps he lived until 10 years ago? Who knows.

i say it obito my theory is after obito gave his eye to kakashi and got smashed by the rock he survived than he decided to make revenge cause he didnt get saved and lost one of his eyes and he started to travel and he meeted orochimaru and he told him a request to revived izuna and orochimaru did edo tensei and revived izuna and obito started to takes his eyes but he wasnt able to use the ms so he got away and started to attack konoha etc... and he joined akatsuki and called himself madara to take control of the akatsuki .and for the nagato rinnengan maybe before madara die he gave a bit of his dna to zetsu and he told to see a uzumaki/senju who he think he deserved it and zetsu took some of his dna and he gaved to nagato and that the reason he won the rinnengan

No offense but this theory is horrible. So many things point against it being obito, the main point is how can he be that powerful and tall against the fourth hokage during their fight... And the #1 point against it is how can you magically move after being crushed by a huge boulder then being alive after a cave in being able to function perfectly to meet oro as you said.
