Translators might be wrong. Madara was reffering to Nagato/Pain. he also calls everyone like that to stress that he's the stronger and they're nothing against him.
Next we'll see him calling Tsunade a baby 'cause Hashirama made him babysit her when she was little and he made her drink sake 'cause he didn't give a damn about her. (also reveals Tsunade's releation with sake)

Don't refer to Kabuto, he doesn't know who is under the mask. It still could be Madara splitted. Kabuto just thinks this way:
"If i can revive Madara Uchiha, then i guess under the mask is somebody else".
He has no clue who is Tobi.

What was Madara's prime? Was it the EMS or the Rinnegan or both?
When did Madara obtain both? Just before his death pehaps.
So, was his prime was just before his death?
Point is, Madara was probably not resurrected to his physical appearance at the time he fought Hashirama. What Kabuto said was that he(Kabuto) restored Madara beyond his prime.
Don't be retarded. You're basing this theory on such a small clause that could easily be misinterpreted (or misunderstood).
Nonetheless, this is a feasible theory compared to the other stupid theories I see around here.

i think madar died of old age , but kabuto used a special edo tensei for him to bring him back better than he was in his prime
Kishi makes it too easy for good theories. The story is full of predictable surprises and secrets so most of these theories including that of kagami and this one can be true. One of these is bound to be right and this one could be it. Anyways nice theory

The Real Madara was openly replace by Tobi during the Fox attack on the village so now we need to know how long did Tobi work in the shadows before He started to call Himself Madara, for I believe during the time Tobi work in the shadows was shortly after the real Madara's death.

Look at the hair of the 'masked man'. The one who helped Itachi in the Massacre had long hair exactly like Madara...As did the controller of the 4th Mizukage....but the same mask as the 'masked man' who fought Minato....who had the same hair as 'Tobi'. (I know hair-styles can be change, but Kishi wants us to figure it out, lol)
What if Shisui and Itachi realized the danger to Konoha and the Ninja world and tried to eliminate them both. Only succeeding with killing the very old original Uchiha Madara. Who finally awakened the Rinnegan, shortly before his death. Tobi being a flawed copy of Madara, a la Yamato, infused with Zetsu's Hashirama regenerating cells.

With so many theories around and Kishi doing it once again- he gave one answer and openned the pandora's box for many more.lol I won't be surprised if your theory turns out to be true or even if Tobi is just a Zetsu made by the body of the real Madara..
As for Kabuto raising question about fake madara's intention- that maybe a hint as well as a diversion. Madara didn't reply to it - he didn't confirm anything. But, that reminds me that after seeing the 6th coffin Tobi was cursing Orochimaru and wondring " how much did he know so maybe Kabuto is right after all.
I am just trying to make a time line and what we know about Madara till now:
If Madara was alive during the time of Nagato kid - it was the time of second shinobi world war. He died during that war somehow or around the same time.
Mu and Onoki both recognised Madara instantly and he spotted the brat as well.. Onoki might have met him only that time- tha's the only possibility comes to my mind.
Oro saw Nagato. Through Jiraiya, or otherwise he might have learned about rinnegan. Danzou escaped rinnegan attack either way and was in kahoot with Oro. If he was the Hokage Oro probably still would have been in the village... I degress.. Oro, joined Tobi and Nagato and left Akatsuki and yet was able to escape both Akatsuki and Konoha nins for long.
He was scientist, the guy who experimented with Hashirama cells and handled lots of sharingans planting them on Danzou and what not. He also liked to acquire information and knowledge and latter on got Kabuto to assist him.
So Oro would have probably known about the time of his death etc and had most info on him. He also got to study Tobi later on.
I don't remember correctly- but I don't think Manga ever said that Madara died in the battle with Hashirama- just that he was defeated or that Hashirama won.
It was that they just thought he was dead during current period and they were right since this Madara is an Edo.
What connection Tobi has with Madara is not clear- but he has been consistant in one thing- defending Madara on the issue of stealing Izuna's EMS and acting as if he was an Uchiha in some way.
Unlike edo Madara his face carries marks of aging. Didn't splitting tech of Mu is said to be similar- that the chakra is devided in just half and both parts are totally independednt and doesn't affect each other if one gets incapacitated but, splitted parts are weaker?
Madara invoked rinnegan right before his death- rinnegan allows it's weilder to use any tech or element the user wants. What if Madara knowing Mu's tech simply did the same before the mortal would and splitted himself somehow?
He might have known about the Uzumaki family and the kid Nagato in it and planned to use him if needed and expected his other half to work on it. But the part which remained alive changed the plan with time. ( or maybe I'm watching too much Si-fi >.<)
It's not like I'm sure about it but, I am nt just in favour of totally rejecting the idea either.

He can't be referring to "Nagato/Pein" for that will make Pein as old as Onoki.

Now that is good.. But am kindda tired of Tobi Theory..
1. If Madara had separated/split himself then he couldn't be revived through Edo Tensei(after all Dead man can only be revived not alive person)(Though until Kabuto's Trump Card were shown, this was the perfect theory).
2. Real Madara knew both Onooki and Nagato. But Onoki is quite old now and when he was shown Kneeling besides Madara, he was a young man(around 22..my guess).. Nagato had special chakra: Madara must have noticed this just before his dead.
3. Nagato can't be Tobi.. But he can only in one condition: If he changes his name(like when Am using Ronus as my username, while my original name is not that)..
