Sooo, dunno if any of you guys have read Shakespeare's Othello, but thought it was a nice comparison.
Tobi doesn't seem to have a motive, lies consistently, we can never tell if what hes telling is the truth or something of his own creation to suit himself.
He has power politically (and abilities that allow him to do so).

'Some men just want to watch the world burn.'

Tobi just seems to wanna stir everything up.

There are theories within Othello that suggest that Iago is in love with Othello
Tobi <3's Madara so much that he takes his name and persona.

Lol, nothing serious just a nice parallel between antagonists.

Tobi has a motive he lies true ,but he really has no pollitical power. He's all alone now and when there was an akatsuki he was only manipulating it in the shadows.

Manipulating from the shadows is more powerful than in the open

I once played Iago my sophomore year of college. My favourite Shakespeare character of all time. But I definitely think their similar.

School, but i just figured it translated well into what im watching now :) Naruto.

Tobi has a motive he lies true ,but he really has no political power. He's all alone now and when there was an akatsuki he was only manipulating it in the shadows.

Its not a DIRECT parallel, not everything in Othello is going to correspond with Tobi in Naruto.
BUT
Tobi doesn't actually have a motive at the moment, we know he has a plan for total control and power, but he doesn't (so far) have any reason to enact this plan.
When he was claiming he was Madara he had a motive - revenge for the Uchiha, but without an identity - hes been copying Madara, enacting a plan and mistreating people for no reason whatsoever - back to Iago.

In addition - Iago controls Othello from the shadows, and tricks him into ruining his life, just as Tobi controls he Akatsuki and manipulates them from the shadow to ruin the world.

as i said, 'some people just want to watch the world burn'
