Perform the technique: After gathering a substantial amount of my doton chakra, I channel it throughout my skin. I then mold the chakra turning it into stones that form a sort of bulky armor on the top of my skin. I manipulate the rocks so that they cover my entire body(except for eyes, nose, mouth).
Creative uses/strengths: It can be used to augment taijutsu based attacks. It can defend from most techniques apart from lightning based ones. It appears to be relatively quick to perform as it doesn't involve any handseals. I believe the change in appearance it can provide should be placed here, although I don't really see its use.
Drawbacks/counters: Okay so for drawbacks, it makes you bulky and slow. Meaning you would carry a mean taujutsu punch, but the probability of you being fast enough to hit your target is lowered. Also, due to the existence of several extremely fast lightning techniques, it would be unwise to actually be too close to someone while maintaining this armor.
(Doton: Domu) – Earth Release: Earth Spear Technique
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A (+10 to physical attacks)
Description: After performing the Snake hand seal the user will channel their chakra throughout their entire body, which then hardens their skin to a steel-like quality. This increases their defensive power to the utmost limits. The user’s skin also becomes much darker, an almost black colour. The destructive power of physical attacks is increased, making this a great, all purpose technique. But this technique when activated leaves the user vulnerable to lightning based techniques.
Note: Kakuzu bios can use this technique without the need for handseals
Another great armor. The user will do the snake hand seal and channel doton chakra throughout the entire body turning the skin into steel-like substance. The users skin becomes darker as well. With the armor you can withstand B-Rank attacks but is vulnerable to lightning. With the armor the user gain ferocious strength. Its great to not only block but attack as well, note you will have your speed lowered slightly. Also you can still use jutsus with the armor, but the armor stays active one turn.
- Great defense(capable of stopping Hidan's strike like it was nothing) -
- Augments taijutsu. Increases damage inflicted by strikes -
- You can use other jutsus while this is active. Using it doesn't hold you back from using other attacks or defenses if need be -
Weak points
- It slows you down. I don't know by how many levels but still, speed is reduced. -
- Leaves you susceptible to lightning attacks. It is very dangerous to stay in this state for long stretches of time since they are quite a number of lightning techniques that could hit you almost instantaneously. With the reduced speed and lightning susceptibility, evading such attacks would be quite challenging -
Combinations-strategies It can be used to augment all taijutsu attacks(although I wouldn't advise it)
Ways to counter this technique
Raitooooooonnnnn!!!:|
Seriously, should it be used by an opponent close range from me, I'd spam em quick B-A rank lightning techniques like wave of inspiration. Or better still, I'd use a water jutsu, and make the opponent think his armor already provides protection and then electrify the water thus delivering extra extra damage.
Questions
-Can you really use other jutsu in this form? Only earth ones or any element
-Do you need to be in contact with the ground to use it? Say, if you are on a summon, can you use it?
You don't have to fill out a template anymore. Other than performing techniques, I'll occasionally ask you questions and set you interactive tasks to complete. You're free to ask questions of your own since I'll sometimes bombard you with information xD. (Doton: Nentsuchi Otoshi) – Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user does 2 handseals (Ram → Snake) and creates an opening within the sky, which drips down onto the opponent a large amount of sticky mud (in all similar to that of Swamp of the Underworld Technique), covering them. The mud is very heavy and thick as well as adhesive, making it impossible to move if caught and easily crushing an enemy underneath. It’s normally followed up by Lightning release: sixteen pillar bind to create a giant oven around the opponent and then using Fire release: Firing biscuit technique to ignite the oven, hardening the mud and immobilizing the enemy target.
After performing two handseals, I want you to create a portal-like opening in the sky directly above my clone which drops down a copious quantity of sticky mud onto the opponent. The mud itself is heavy and so it will bind anything caught within it.
(Doton: Otoshibuta) – Earth Release: Dropping Lid
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: After doing the Snake handseal and slamming his hands on the ground, he user creates a portal above the target, high in the sky from which a giant, boar-shaped, earthen lid drops and falls on the target, trapping it underneath. The lid can be hollow or solid, depending on if the user wants to deal damage to the enemy or not. Because of its size, to safely used, the lid has to be created at least mid range from the user otherwise he will also be caught inside. The biggest lid can dwarf a boss summon like Nagato's Dog or Gamabunta.
Perform the snake handseal, slam your hands on the ground and channel your doton chakra so to create another portal-like opening above your target. The opening will let forth a massive boar-shaped lid constructed entirely of earth. You have the option of releasing a hollow lid or a normal one, depending on what purpose you wish to accomplish. A hollow lid will deal no damage but will still pin the enemy to the ground if successful while a "full" lid will deal all the damage a B-Ranked Earth technique can possibly inflict.
Key Points: Both of these are fairly interesting techniques. Despite being fairly low-ranked, people find some difficult countering the two of them for different reasons. The former due its phase/state of matter (being mud rather than solid rock) and the latter due to it's sheer scale. Size, form, mass and characteristics matter just as much as rank and strength when two techniques are used in opposition. People often don't consider this when dealing with an opposing jutsu.
For example, let's say we have two equally ranked (and neutral jutsu) clash, one of which has the same dimensions of a kunai and the other being an expansive wave of water. The kunai-like jutsu won't be capable of blocking the other jutsu in its entirety, nor will it be capable of absorbing all of the impact of it, resulting in the wave-like attack continuing on to deal damage to its target. This principle is especially important for Fuuton, Suiton and Katon. Waves of water must be countered with either a defensive wall or a jutsu of roughly the same dimensions, so to prevent the entirety of the attack getting through. This is less important for Earth Release, as the element is more defensive-oriented. However, since our RP sticks strictly to the ranking-system it should not be ignored, just used correctly. An A-Rank Chidori Nagashi will be incapable of stopping an A-Rank incoming wall of water. The lightning will simply diffuse into the attack, making the torrent that much more lethal. Even if Nagashi didn't conduct into it, it doesn't seem plausible that it would be capable of evaporating the sheer amount of water produced by Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave. A ninja must find the perfect balance of characteristics and scale when countering an opposing technique.
Another example which has just come to mind is Ash Pile burning. Unlike normal Katon techniques, it must be ignited manually. Due to the properties of ash, its prone to being blown back towards the user if the right jutsu is used. Despite Fire being stronger than Wind, the user must take great care in how they use this technique. If they choose use it on an incoming Pressure Damage, should they choose to keep it in its ash-like state, it will likely backfire and inflict concussive damage to the user.
Before we move on from these two techniques, I have a few questions for you.
1) How would you counter Sticky Earth Drop using canon techniques? How about Dropping Lid? List all of the counters you can think of and give me your top three. Explain why you ranked them in this way.
2) How high do the portals have to be created above the opponent?
3) Should the user take any special measures or precautions when using these two techniques?
Understood. Thanks again

(Doton: Nentsuchi Otoshi) – Earth Release: Sticky Earth Drop
I channel chakra into the sky a few meters above the clone while performing the two hand seals required . Using the hand seals, I mold the chakra to create an opening in the sky from which thick adhesive mud pours out of and descends on the clone completely surrounding him.
(Doton: Otoshibuta) – Earth Release: Dropping Lid
Again, I channel chakra into the sky a few meters above the clone but this time I perform the Snake handseal. I then mold the chakra to create another opening in the sky however this time round, a solid earthen lid of mid-range diameter is what emerges. The lid is as heavy as it is enormous. It descends with the force of gravity and slams on top of the clone dealing severe damage.
1) Mud counters ranked in decreasing order of preference.
I ranked them as such because Great Blaze Ball and Hurricane Fist are the lowest ranked counters I could think of. Hurricane Fist is second because it probably can't be used if the portal created has a huge diameter(I'd be more inclined to use it to evade the mud than to stop the mud). Then I put Thunder Dragon Tornado before Pressure Damage because the earlier can be controlled to attack after protecting from the mud.

If the user gets caught in it, it will harm him also.
Lid counters ranked in decreasing order of preference.
Again, I'd prefer to use weak jutsu to counter since it is oriented in line with my opponent. I think wave of inspiration could shatter and disperse the lid as harmless pebbles. The fire ball technique cause enough of it to explode so that I'm safe. I don't really have any preference with the rest since they are all wind techs. I just imagine they should work if used.

Description: After doing the Rabbit → Dog → Boar → Ram → Rat hand seals, the user generates a large amount of lightning from their hands, which can then be either released in an unfocused manner or passed through conductive materials to improve the electrical power of the technique, namely in conjunction with Water Techniques. In fact, certain users have showed that its possible to, if the user has the ability to mold both Water and Lightning chakras at the same time (for example, Darui who has Storm Release), unleash this particular technique at the same time as they exhale/spit some water technique (which needs to consist of a stream of water), combining both in a seemingly consecutive move. Other ninjas will need to use a clone or an ally for the same effect.

2) I don't think the height really matters. Ideally to be able to deal significant damage on impact the portals should be created at least 10m above, I think. But I'm inclined to think this isn't really necessary since even if the lid or mud is created just above a target's head, the weight of it should be enough to crush him/her without relying on impact force.
3) It is safe to be at least mid range away when using the techniques otherwise one might be affected by his/her own attack.
Alright, I've looked through the thread, and while the methods your other teachers used have their merit, I'll be doing things quite a bit more simply. Essentially, I'm just going to be checking to make sure that you understand how your character would theoretically perform the technique, and how the technique functions. So long as I'm satisfied that you understand both those things, no additional typing will be required. Of course, if you have any particular questions about anything we learn, just ask.
Given that I think that both of your previous descriptions were sufficient and that there would be no point in making you redo them, we'll be moving right along.
(Doton Kage Bunshin) – Earth Release Shadow Clone
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique creates a clone made of mud. Since its made of mud, it can continue to reform and mold itself back to its original shape even after taking physical damage (up to C-Rank). An unique use is that after reverting to mud, it can hold the opponent in place as a binding technique. They can also use up to C rank earth techniques.
Alright, this is a pretty standard elemental shadow clone variant. Essentially, to perform it you're going to create a clone using mud as the medium. You'll be using your chakra to give the clone its form, in addition to giving it the ability to move, reform, use earth techniques, and potentially bind an opponent in place. Bear in mind that the clone can only reform if it takes C rank or below damage, and it can only use C rank or below earth jutsu. Go ahead and explain how you'd perform it and what all it can do. And I suggest doing so in a little more depth than I just did.
I concentrate on projecting my earth chakra in front of me. I mentally envision converting that chakra into a perfect replica om my handsome self as I project it. Although the chakra I project is primarily earth in nature, I still focus on molding the form of material it would create electing to generate mud instead of regular brittle earth. Upon successfully molding my chakra into mud I apply shape manipulation to the mud, crafting it into the self image I've been holding in my mind. After the clone fully forms the remnants of chakra I engulf it with keeps it animated. It is capable of motion as well as utilizing some amounts of the remnant chakra to perform low level techniques( D and C rank). Additionally due to it being entirely made up of mud, which has some amount of fluid properties, it can easily reform its structure after encountering low level structure disruption. This inherent mud structure also allows the clone to trap objects that come in contact with it by transforming into the sticky adhesive mud that it inherently is.
I have a few questions: Do I create the mud which turns into a clone or do I kinda shape the earth to sprout the clone? And while we're on the topic I remember there being some sort of convention that certain earth techs cannot be used while midair. If I can produce the mud and clone independent of the ground, does this mean I can create it without being in contact with the ground?
I believe you spit the mud from your mouth. As for that convention, it's basically stupid and wrong. Jiraiya used swamp of the underworld while flying through the air. Some people will try to tell you that he was standing on Gamabunta, but like that earlier mentioned convention, they're stupid and wrong. He was being blasted through the air while standing on a small piece of rock. So yeah, you can use this jutsu while not on the ground. And most other earth jutsu.
Any who, since I was more than satisfied with the quality of your reply, we'll bump it up to two.

Description: The user performs the Ram → Horse → Tiger → Rabbit → Snake and slams their palm on the ground. Instantly, the ground to the sides of the opponent take the shape of huge jaws and attempt to crush and stab him between them. The size of the jaws can be adjusted to fit the size of the opponent or other uses.
So for this one, go ahead and perform the hand seals listed in the jutsu description, then stick a hand on the ground. You'll then be using your chakra to cause large slabs of earth to erupt around your opponent in order to crush and stab them. It's very important to note that this jutsu lets you control its scale to some extent, so the appearance and effects may vary to whatever you can dream up.

Range: Short/Mid
Chakra Cost: 20

Description: The user will first perform the snake hand seal and then cause the earth in the surrounding area to rise up and over a target and create a cavern, imprisoning the target. The user can leave an opening to allow attacks to go in to strike down the trapped adversaries, or close it up completely to prevent escape.
Alright, you'll be performing the snake seal for this one, and then using your chakra to manipulate the earth in a desire area to shift and move upward, whereupon it will close off forming a cavern and sealing off the targeted area. When using this, bare in mind that you do have a fair amount of control over its scale and whether or not you entirely close the tavern.
Finally found the will power to reply to training. My apologies... but on the bright side I've taken the time to research most of the remaining jutsu and gone as far as to create gifs of them so i guess the remainder of the lesson should be a breeze
______________
I start by channeling doton chakra into the ground beside my target while making the quick series of handseals followed by slamming my hand on the ground. By so doing i cause the ground on both sides to be molded into massive jaws which emerge facing him. Upon creation the jaws move rapidly devour the target from both sides.
You must be registered for see images
After performing the the snake hand seal while channeling chakra into the area surrounding a target, I manipulate the earth such that segments arise from all sides rising upwards at amazing speeds. The segments converge some meters off the ground effectively forming an enclosure around the target. The enclosure looks more like a cave with a tunnel leading to its only opening. The tunnel faces my position and is created to afford the chance to launch an attack into the cavern.
