As a staff. As a long staff. What will that do? He's not gaining width,

The fact that it was used specifically for the purpose of binding Kurama would suggest that it's not your everyday mokuton jutsu.

What? Since when were Hiruzen's shadow clones stated to be not see-through? Because Hashirama's mokuton clones were unable to be seen through by anything but EMS Madara's ... EMS, as stated by Edo Madara. Specifically Hashirama's mokuton clones. You're just using assumptions now :|

Hiruzen's prime arsenal, without a doubt is the largest and most versatile we've ever heard of thus far.... even more so than kakashi's .... essentially he would have a counter for just about anything hashirama pulls out at him.. and he has shown this to be true.. in his fight with orochimaru he wasted no moves.. the jutsu he used were all used as a counter to what was used on him..
Tobirama's water jutsu? earth water wall
Moukouton? enma to break it
bod? advance sense of smell
and RDS to seal the edos..

considering that enma said his performance was pitiful compared to what he used to be able to do...

Show flower power jutsu being destroyed by katon and I'll agree. I do believe Mei even had Lava Release. If flower power jutsu were to be destroyed by a simple katon jutsu, then why was Hashirama seen as #1? Wouldn't your average Uchiha be able to take down his widespread jutsu? Heck, why didn't Hiruzen use katon in the first place?

I've always looked at the battle as orochimaru being a cat and Hiruzen was the mouse. The cat plays with the mouse before killing it, but it just so happens the mouse has a bunch of C4 strapped to it's chest and BOOM! down goes the cat ....and the mouse.
