You need people in their 30s, not 20s.

What about Boyz II Men (End of the Road) or John B. (Someone to Love)?

Boys II Men (I'll make love to you), UB40 (can't help falling in love), Keith Sweat (i'll give all my love to you), All For One (I swear), Whitney Houston (I will always love you), K-Ci and JoJo (All my Life). That's really all I remember from the radio. I listened to grunge. Make a grunge mix tape.

I thought of some more:

Tony Braxton: Unbreak My Heart
Mariah Carey: Dream lover
Janet Jackson: Anytime Anyplace
TLC: Waterfalls
The Fugees: Killing Me Softly
Salt N Pepa: What a Man
Brandi and Monica: The boy is mine
En Vogue:Don't Let Go or My lovin
Ace of Base: Don't turn around
Kenny Wayne Shepard: Blue on black

I remembered more than I thought...I just had to wake up.

Even UB40's CHFiL still falls under the reggae umbrella.

'91 kid here. And I know enough 90's songs.

OT:
you might wanna get some Kelly family in there.

Yeah, I know quite a lot of 90s stuff too but the OP is specifically looking for Blues/Soul.

He's better off with people who at least spent their teens in the 90s.
