In today's episode, Konohamaru said that it has been 10 years since the war. Iwabe said the same thing in episode 2. Now, I had assumed that a decent amount of time had gradually progressed from the academy days to now. I guess not though. This has a number of implications though:
1. The kids in Boruto's age group were stated to be around 12 in the Boruto movie, which is supposed to be the point in time that is coming up soon. However, if the war was 10 years ago, then that means that Boruto is 8 at max! That is because Naruto and Hinata didn't even get together until 2 years after the war. Unless you want to tell me that the chunin exams is actually 4 years from now in their time, then that is an inconsistency. Of course we could extend the max to Boruto being 10 years old currently in the anime (which would take him closer to the 12 years old of the movie), but that would mean that he was conceived during the year of the war! That would mean that apparently, Naruto and Hinata slept with each other at least once shortly after the war (getting Hinata pregnant), and then Hinata stayed pregnant for over 2 years, and that after ***, they both apparently forgot about it and didn't get back together for at least 2 years! In other words, the 10 years old idea is pretty much impossible.
2. On a more more minor note, this means that Naruto is 27 now in the anime since he turned 17 during the war.
3. The academy lasts for less than a year (at least in Boruto's generation)! Talk about a way to train up child soldiers. Give them a few good months of training or so, and then it's off to fight experienced rouge ninja!
However, though it won't be noted, we should technically be in for a 6 year time skip after the chunin exams arc since Ao in the manga stated that it has been 16 years since his last real combat (which presumably refers to the war).
In other words, at this point in the manga, Boruto and co. should be 14 (if they are 8 now and in the chunin exams).
This also means that future Boruto should surface 2 years from now (in NV time, not real world time), since Boruto was confirmed to be 16 during his fight with Kawaki.
In the end though, all of this logic probably bears no weight. It is probably just inconsistency and nothing more.
Still thought I'd point it out though.
